The sky is dark and dangerous
As the rain it thunders down
Dancing daintily on the tarmac
Rushing recklessly to the drains
The leaves that recently blew about
Are now blocking all the gullys
The water builds up rapidly
The flooding shortly follows
The sodden soil can take no more
Winter grass is swamped and drown
The horses stand against the trees
Their canvas coats a dirty brown
The meadows full of sheep in lamb
They clamber to higher ground
Lets hope their young don't come soon
Before this storm is done
The cattle have gone to shelter
The muddy fields look battered
It'll take time for them to recover
From the pounding they did bear
