My father-in-law, John Brown (Jackie) worked at Liverpool Warehousing. I think he was a driver.
He is second from the left in this pic.

They started in 1895 and closed in 1983. 70 Pall Mall, Liverpool. They had fourteen subsidiary firms. They were the largest firm of warehouse-keepers in the UK Its main commodity was cotton. In 1986 the firm became part of the Transport Development Group.

There are a few old warehouses around that still bear the companies' name, in large lettering. I'll keep an eye out for them.

Derby Road/Strand Road junction, Bootle I think and possibly facing the Bull pub near the heritage market, Gt Howard st.

Thank You all! It's amazing, you can have a photo & info for years & never really appreciate or understand them. Then you put it all out there for everyone to see & it suddenly becomes more meaningful.

This is the one I had in mind in Gt Howard St. The Brown Cow pub is now the Atlantic Cafe. I park in this street when going the Stanley Dock Market then a pint in the Bull on the other corner when catching a sky match 2nd half.

Another warehouse (still complete with name in white tiles), is at Sherwood Street (off Great Howard Street).

Sefton Street (between Parliament Street and Stanhope Street). I'm pretty sure some of the warehouses were part of the Liverpool Warehousing Co. at one time. These were demolished last year. Some pics exist of these (these were the ones by the Coburg pub).

The pic posted by Ged, of the one on Great Howard Street, is one of the more famous warehouses. The Dublin Street side is the site of the 'Dylan door' (where Bob Dylan was photographed with a group of local children in the 1960s)

The warehouse in Bootle between Millers Bridge and Effingham Street, still retains the name, on the low level building (in both streets mentioned).

Sefton Street. Several old sheds were demolished just over a year ago. This one still had a very faded name, in white paint, "The Liverpool Warehousing Co. LTD". There was another bit of text under this, but I couldn't read it, even when standing right in front of it.
The first pic in this thread reminds me of Dublin Street, looking up towards the pub.
