I heard it called a Scouse wedding
And I didn't know what to expect
For years the politicians talked bollocks
And the professionals they all talked dodo

But come the opening night
The Scousers made it their own
They showed the whole world
Why Liverpool was their home

They partied like nobody else can
The music the talk and the dance
The vibrancy sounded electric
The party had them all in a trance

The year is all now before you
So grab it whenever you can
For Liverpool is the Capital of Culture
And I am your number one fan
