Anyone remember when we had the annual Liverpool Show held in Wavertee
Park. There was police motorcycle display team and police dog displays also
various marquees and activities including as my pic shows, show jumping.
The police also had their own show every year held on the police sports field.

Hi Greg's Dad

Yes I went to the Liverpool Show on a number of occasions. Nice memories.

I used to love the Liverpool Show, years ago. It was held in the Mystery but sadly it died a death and stopped belonging to Liverpool. Instead it became an advertising space for people who live outside of liverpool.
It became known as 'Woolly back Field."

I remember it at Wavertree. A parachute jump for the public sticks in the mind.

I used to go nearly every year. I remember seeing the Red Devils in the sky from our house. Also the Red Arrows flying over as well. Great times.

I also remember an English Electric Lightning jet being on display - I remember sitting in the cockpit...I'm sure that was at the Liverpool Show.

I think the one in Wavertree was The Royal Agricultural show it give it its proper title. Maybe the one at Camp Hill was the Liverpool Show ?

I remember the Liverpool Show.
The first incarnation of the show lasted until 1978, I remember very vaguely (I was born in 1976!) that my parents and a neighbour walked around it. My mum went on the waltzers (her last fairground ride ever) and my dad took me to a rifle range where he won a red and white gonk for me-I loved that gonk for years! My mum told me that it was held in the summer back then.

The second incarnation I remember very well. It restarted in 1993, that year there was some kind of bungee thing for the public and it was massive. It was either that year or 1994 that World's apart were playing, I WASN'T a fan but just remember them being on. I also saw Peter Andre from the beer tent (probably the best place if you have to see Peter Andre!) in 1996. The event was getting noticeably smaller and more expensive each year, also, Radio City seemed to stop doing live broadcasts from the stage. The admission fees didn't help and by 2000 it was my last visit. I have some photos of that back at my parents....going to have to do some serious scanning when I visit the 'pool!

The Woolton Show was held every August Bank Holiday. I last remember going about 1990 when I lost a watch which I liked. Don't know when it stopped but it is a real shame.
