Default Strange lights over Mossley Hill

Did anyone notice the strange red lights moving over Mossley Hill on Friday Night ? ( Saturday 12.07 am really ) I Looked out of my window from Cooper avenue at just gone midnight and saw about a dozen red lights coming from the direction of Aigburth and passing overhead towards Childwall Woods. These were followed by a further dozen red lights.I went and woke my son and he came in to watch. For the next 5 or so minutes we watched as a steady stream of these lights sometimes in groups of upto 15 or so came into view and flew over the house quite slowly. They would bee in view for about 20 seconds as they approached the house and flew overhead.I went into the back garden with my camera and watched them for about a further 10 seconds as they disapeared into the distance. The RED lights were so bright they MUST have been visable to quite a few people.Sometimes individual lights would come racing in at a higher speed than the rest and take up posistion with these clusters and then continue on thier way at the slower speed the clusters were moving at.In all we saw bout a hundred Large Red lights in the 10 minutes this lasted. The photos I took in the garden are vague to say the least. The one I have attached shows the lights as being blue in colour however as I have said they were in reality Bright Red when I was viewing them both with my eyes and through the camera.A movie I took with the camera shows nothing but a black screen even though at the time the red lights were clearly visable in the view screen. The attached photo also appears to show some of these lights as being IN FRONT of the bushes and trees but these were really shinning through them - this might be because of the way cameras work - I dont know - but the lights were so bright a red in colour that I am at a loss as to explain why they look blue exept to say that I could not honestly say that I know of any bulb or means to create the kind of light these gave off.10 minutes after the sighting had finished a Milatary helicopter with 2 searchlights was on the scene beaming thier lights down on to Holts Field / Suddley Park - this could be coincidence. This was a real astronomical event.I have made enquiries and these were not a part of the COC launch that took place earlier that night however I suspect that a lot of people that saw this might have thought it was and failed to realise the significance of what they were seeing.

I have dismissed planes , hellicopters etc and baloons and fire balloons ( They dont come racing in at speed and take up posistion within other groups ) and as far as metors / space junk etc go I think the same goes for them

Did any one else see this ?
Got any photos ?

This was a memorable sight and one that has left my son and I scratching our heads.

PS My son has been learning to fly for the past 2 years at Liverpool airport and is sure that these would have constituted a major navigational hazard due to the close proximity to the airport.Liverpool airport tower MUST have seen this event if not on radar but by eye and if not that is worrying.

PPS the attached photo from my garden is in full and if examind there are actually about a dozen lights captured in it rather than just the ones easily seen

download a zipped file from below add (Put the original and the doctored image in slideshow and flick between the two images- daylight one is just for ref)

OK I know there hard to see - this is what is so puzzling.I will post again as a zip file with a doctored image included with the original pointing out how we saw them and how they came out.It might just be poor camera tecnique or the nature of the "Lights" themselves.
Put both in slide show and flick between the 2 images.
I will also include a daytime one I have taken from roughly the same posistion in the garden this morning to show the area of sky more clearly.

will post in a couple of mins.

try this site I just joined - hope it works.

http://www.largeimagehost.com/ZIP/hXcUQ.html

If anyone would like the full images mailed to them if the above site resizes or messes with them just ask - especially if you have any way of enhancing them as I know nothing about such things - just a point a click guy - but I'd love to get better images of them - this photo looks nothing like what i was viewing at the time.

see original post for download link - remember the ones that look like they are in front of the trees were really shining through them yet they look like they have illuminated the otherside of the twigs and branches !!!!

Please try and enhance the original if you have the means.

I have found that I can see more when viewed on my laptop screen than on my main CRT screen computer. At the time of this photo there were many of these red lights ( to numerous to count ) moving from right to left and taking about 4 seconds to traverse the width of the picture.I have put red blobs on the doctored one to show what it looked like to me at the time and some red blobs maybe false ones whilst others I may have missed.

As I say about a hundred came over in the 10 mins of this event.

No need to take the proverbial.
I dont drink - Thats how I can afford flying lessons for my son.
He was slightly unnerved by what he saw and the last thing he needs is people saying he was seeing things - I think that will just set him up for life not trusting people enough to tell the truth.

I think you find in a week or two that you will start to hear more accounts of this sighting. As an astronomical event to view it was as impressive as seeing a full solar eclipse in the best conditions.Yes the photo is lousy - but the truth is the lights were BIG numerous and as brighter red as you could imagine.

I have no idea what we witnessed - military , natural ,hoax , aliens even - would not like to guess at its nature but it was impressive.

Spoke with the echo - they have had reports from others.

Also passed the pictures on to MARA

and thats about it for me until someone posts better pics or an explanation is forthcoming.

PS - Just noticed you Military avatar - are you in the forces by any chance or is that just a coincidence ?

Spoilt my post it did.

Hi - Gave them the full story but the main guy (Bill) was not available so I spoke to guy named Mark and posted off the pics to him who covers a different area of the city - he was going to pass the pics and info on to Bill and he was going to get in touch.I was rather hoping for a call from him today but nothing as of yet.I will try him tomorrow. Mark ( The guy I sent the pics to ) has asked if my son and I are prepared to give a full report with detailed directions etc. I have agreed hence why I have already taken the photo in daylight. We also have a detailed aviation map of the Liverpool area showing all flight corridors etc because of my sons flying so we can use that to plot the course of these lights.I cant stress how big and vivid these were and am surprised that I have heard so little. At the time I stayed up to listen to Radio City news at 1am expecting it to be on that but there was no news at 1am just thump thump music so I then stayed upto 2 am and had both Radio City on a radio and radio Merseyside on the laptop.Nothing.I was equally surprised in the morning when nothing was on the 9 am news.By this time I was expecting it to have gone national let alone local but ziltch.

This was a massive sighting and every UK report I have read today of such kind of things in the UK from the past 10 years pale into insignificance compared to the scale of what we witnessed.I'm sure that as time goes on people will start to talk about it.

I've personally seen two 'UFO's (not aliens...things that you can't identify) and submitted a report to Bill on previous occasions. The funny thing is, while you may have spotted it and tried your best to record it (never take a picture of anything in the sky at night with a flash on), most people aren't looking in the sky at that time.

The light that I saw was **** amazing too, over Childwall and we live on the flight path so was used to seeing aircraft/helicopter, yet no other reports at all.

Maybe aliens have heard about the capital of culture and come to see us?

The main reason for the camera settings were that I was so blown away at what was happening that the idea of adjusting camera settings whilst this was happening was a no brainer.I stood and watched expecting them to stop anytime but they just kept coming. It was only afterwards whilst reviewing the photos that I remembered that I did turn the flash off at one point but it seems to have made no difference.

The time sequence of using the camera was as follows:

Left my son watching them in the front bedroom whilst I went down to the kitchen to get the camera.
Got outside took 3 photos changed to movie mode took one automatic 12 second .mov file Turned camera back to photo turned flash off took 2 more.Went inside back to the front bedroom were my son was still standing watching them coming towards us and then stayed watching with him untill they finished.

The pictures

The First 2 photos dont exist ! When I scroll to them the camera menu says "Picture error".This is the first time I have ever seen this on my 2 year old camera. When I expore the folder containing the photos from my computer the number seqence shows those files 2 as not there. There is not even a duff file for me to try and download.
The movie shows 12 seconds of complete darkness even though at the time of filming the view screen was full of these bright red lights tracking across the viewer. I was trying to get a sence of the speed of them and had the camera held still - not following the moving spheres of light .My son wants to try and a view it frame by frame at some point to see if there is anything there at all.I dont know how to do that or hold out much hope.
Of the remaing 3 One you have seen the other two show the same kind of things but not as many.

The main reason for the lighting is that I had the main kitchen lights on to my right as well as a bright automatic security light triggered when I'd stepped outside.Dont forget at times like this you dont stop to think about what you should do you just act and anyway I glad I went back in to just watch with my son - The pictures are a million miles away from what we truly witnessed anyway !
