I hope you dont mind me posting this on your fantastic forum for Liverpool because Runcorn has a kinda connection to Liverpool because back in the early 70s when Runcorn New Town was built many people like my family moved from Liverpool to Runcorn and when Southgate was demolished some people moved back to Liverpool so if you or your family once lived on southgate then post your memories on here

We moved to 'Lego Land' as I believe it was called back then when my parents had no money. They eventually got back into Liverpool a few months later after getting back on their feet.

My first flat was on Southgate. I lived there from 88 - 89. At the time my rent was just 3.50 a week as I was on YTS pay. Aaah those were the days I loved that flat, it was huge........

What a great link, hope you don't mind I passed it around work. We had great fun remembering some of the places in the photos. I wonder if one of the kids in the pics of the shopping city are anyone we know......?

Spent a fair bit of my time in Castlefields Youth Centre too.

Great Pics and site.

hi i used to live in runcorn murdishaw in the 70s and i hated it. i still went to school in old swan though me and me brother had to get up about 6 oclock in the morning to get the bus, eventually he went to the school in windmill hill. i left school the year after we moved there and i worked in a toy shop in the shopping city called treasure island. i hated the house i,m sure it was haunted. any way i have some happy memories not alot but i made some good mates there.

Sorry folks but due to me getting a proper website set up on Runcorn and Widnes (with southgate included) I lost all of what those of you have already posted on Southgate. So if you like can you - when you have the time to post it up again. You can also see a gallery of photos and post your memories. Heres the link http://www.rawpast.co.uk

admin I will be putting a link to your site on mine so it'll help each other out.
