It was only four rooms but each filled with love
Our family had grown there Lord only knows how
With Granny, Mammy, Daddy, one boy and four girls
Their name on the housing list for manys a year

When Mam went asking she got no cheer
The clerk was a bigot "you'll get no house here"
He roll up a paper and make her a poke
Then fill it with sweeties and just make a joke

When I arrived on the scene they shouted for joy
For my Dad and big brother had finally a boy
Now where do we put him they all sat and thought
When my brother he stood up and opened the drawer

But things they did change now, a house we were granted
Uncle Willy done the shifting on the back of his lorry
We move to a palace bedrooms there were three
So that meant a room for my brother and me

We had running water and hot stuff at that
Now a hot bath ever week became the norm
We had a huge garden, my Dad he grew spuds
My Granny planted strawberries and things that were nice

So after so many years of trouble and grief
My coming along it was a relief
I was the one that made everyone so happy
My brother so chuffed he changed my nappy
