We often hear about the 'Holy Land' in the Dingle, but it is sometimes overlooked that there is a 'Holy City' in Anfield:

Holy City because we have the cathedral :)

here are the roads;

Abbey rd

Cathedral rd

Chapel rd

Monastey rd

Bishop rd

Canon rd

Vicar rd

Rector rd

Curate rd

I remember it being mentioned once on a tv documentary about Liverpool - I was pleased that it was noticed that we have two 'Holy' areas :)

The theme continues to a degree a little further down Townsend Lane on the Pinehurst Estate, where you have Warham Road (named after William Warham a 16th century Archbishop of Canterbury) and and Wycliffe Road (named after John Wycliffe 14th century theologian who translated bible into English).

The streets off Church Rd, Wavertree are named after English Cathedral Cities

They are Bristol Road, Coventry Road, Hereford Road, Lichfield Road, Newcastle Road, Norwich Road, Peterborough Road and Truro Road. They are skirted by Charles Berrington Road, named after their builder. They were named after cathedral cities because his cousin and foreman joiners surname was Lichfield.

Thanks for that info SteH, I never knew that.

Lindy mentioned the Holy Land in Dingle in her 1st post. These are of course David, Isaac, Jacob and Moses Streets. Arthur Askey was born in Moses Street.

The Newsham Pub, Scotland Road. This was known locally as the 'Holy House', it is thought, because of its close proximity to St. Anthony's church where perhaps the congregation filed into for some other spirits afterwards.
