Michael Palin. BBC2.
Although I have watched the repeats of this a number of times in the past, I still find it very watchable. He was in Egypt and talking to an Egyptian seafarer who asked Michael (because he is a Brit) if he was from Liverpool, Michael palin asked him why he thought of L'pool, and the man replied that he loves the city of Liverpool very much, and he loves the great team, he said he loves the place and always wants to hear about it :) :PDT_Piratz_26:

I never tire of that either, or Pole to Pole - think he may have been better quitting whilst ahead though as I didnt enjoy Full Circle or the Sahara one as much, and didnt even bother watching the New Europe earlier this year.

In the actual novel Around the World in 80 Days (by Jules Verne) doesn't he mention visiting Liverpool? I heard that the Adelphi is also mentioned in the book but I don't recall reading that...maybe it was just a rumour...

He sailed back to Liverpool from New York, but got the first available train to London and didnt stay overnight as he needed to get there to make his bet.

I have watched all of those series. The Sahara one was ok, but the Europe one was a bit of a let down. Maybe Europe isn't as mysterious and as fascinating as those other parts of the globe - if you know what I mean -
of course Europe has many beautiful places, but Palin's adventures in those far flung places were so much more interesting with all the sights, diverse cultures and fascinating peoples. The Europe series seemed boring in comparison. :)
