What have I got to be thankful for scowled the crabbit old man
And as he started to doze off his mind started to churn,
In his warm comfortable home safe from the winter weather outside
His loving family grown and successfully building nests of their own
Cherished memories of a loving wife of fifty years
Caring friends who visited him every day
A loyal and trusting dog sleeping by his feet to keep them warm
The wonders of nature on his doorstep for him to enjoy
The strength to walk each day in the great outdoors
He woke from a restful sleep a happier man
