There have been times when being in the presence of nature’s awesome beauty I feel so much closer and find it easier to talk to God.
To stand on a mountain peak after a few hours of sweat and sore feet and see unfolding below me the grey granite rocks or purple heather swaying fills me with joy.
To watch the majestic eagle or falcon hover on the updraft with steely eyes scanning below for their supper.
Or see the fox creep along the hedgerow right under the farmers gaze to bring home the quarry to feed her hungry cubs.
To dive into a crashing wave on the beach and see the glorious orange glow of the setting sun penetrating the turquoise waters full of white bubbles passing over me is a pleasure not all men can experience.
To see the finger prints on that tiny little hand of our new borne child and marvel at their uniqueness.
To watch your children grow and develop into wonderful human beings who show love and care for others.
There are times when loved ones have been taken home
You have been there to chat to
Helping us cope with our loss, our feelings of loneliness, our selfishness.
But God there are times when I simply ask of you, why?
Why do you see the need for so much suffering and grief?
Why burden those who are already weak?
Why not return the bodies of the lost to their families?
Why so much war and violence, hunger and hurt?
There are times when my anger rises God and I ask, Are you taking the ****?
But I thank you God for all that you have given me
For forgiving me when I snap at you like a child snapping at his Daddy.
Only someone who loves me would tolerate my constant asking.
