View Full Version : The Visitor

We had a visitor coming and the white tornado had hit our house.
Every crook and cranny was washed, dusted, polished or painted or any combination of these.
The very light shades high up above the staircase didn’t escape.
They didn’t pass the inspection by the sergeant major so had to be replaced.

New bedsheets were neatly unwrapped then had to be ironed before every bed in the house was fitted with the crispy new cotton.
Everyone of us, and there were a lot of us had our new outfits laid out.
New clothes from the skin out
Boy this must be some special visitor that was coming.

The very grass in the garden that hadn’t grown since the onset of winter was raked and combed.
If it could have had hair straightener produce applied to make it look any tidier I think that would have happened to.

The very dog was washed combed powdered and puffed up.
His kennel didn’t escape the Domestos wash and rub and a new bed cushion wash unwrapped for good measure.

Well have you guessed who was coming?
Some smart money was on at 3 to 1 on it being the Queen
Those from the US will be thinking the President must be the visitor.
The Catholics will be thinking it’s the Pope.

Well I’ll give you a really big clue.

It was Christmas Eve and the crib was missing just one final piece to make everything worth all this effort.
