Watched the first part tonight.
It's a good cast, good costumes and filming.

I saw it too and thought that it was brilliant, love the story, gets better with each new adaptation.:PDT11
I too thought it was ace. Loved the adaption, was unsure about Fagan though.
Is it a 5 parter? The whole musical film version was nearly over by the first one last night :PDT10

Was very good.
I've got the 1922 version starring Lon Chaney (as Fagin) & Jackie Coogan (as Oliver). The film was believed lost for many years until a print surfaced in Yugoslavia in 1972. The picture quality, sets and costume are excellent and some of the colour 'tones' are stunning.

Hey Kev, I thought that Fagin was o.k. a nice "twist" to the character I thought as was Bill Sykes, mind you that boring dog was the same though. Wouldn,t you have thought that they could have put a spin on that....right up the bloody street ha ha. No only kiddin, They could have changed the breed to something else though, but not a poodle.

Chippie you can only have a bull terrier for 'Bullseye' :) - a Labrador or a Doberman just wouldn't do. :002:
ps,
I remember a long time ago when Oliver Twist was on the Empire, and in the Echo they were advertising for a bull terrier to play the part of Syke's dog.
I was thinking of putting our Jake up for the audition - - only kidding ;) - imagine him on stage !! there would be mayhem ! :unibrow:

Hi Caterina
Yes, I love the older films. The Alastair Sim version of Scrooge is excellent. Look forward to the Old Curiosity Shop you mention.
