View Full Version : x factor fix
pasha 12-15-2007, 10:40 PM does anyone else think its a fix?
rhydian an outstanding singer blew me away i thought he was the best singer all the way through x factor i am sure these phone results are,nt right
do you think the same? any way he will probably go on to do better
debbie
Oooooo, I'm unsure, I was waiting for Rydian to win but loved Leon's quirky ways and enjoyed his singing style more and more as the weeks went on.

pasha 12-15-2007, 10:59 PM hi kev i don't dislike leon he can sing but i thought rhydian had everything maybe im just bias because i live in wales lol i am not welsh though
catherine jenkins is absolutly gorgeous
macateb 12-16-2007, 03:11 AM Rydian was way way better than anyone else on that show and I'm very surprised he lost.
He even outsung Katherine Jenkins in their duet.
He sang strong and clear and she sang with an operatic warble that could have been in any language.
Week after week he gave a great performance - even if some of the song choices were a bit crap.
Leon on the other hand had some disasters in the earlier rounds and was lucky to be saved.
Crying and looking sad for himself probably kept him in then.
I felt that Leon had a big advantage going into the final round after Dermot had announced that there was only a 1% difference in the votes.
For people who hadn't yet voted, there wasn't much time to do so.
With Leon going first, he had about a 5 minute head start with his phone number being shown, before Rydian's number re-appeared.
At that stage I feel that both numbers should always be on screen, or come on together, so that they are both given the same amount of time.
Cowell said that he's going to take time to make Leon's album, in the same way he did with Leona's. Hopefully he'll also do what he did last year and sign the runner-up.
It was also sad to see Rydian upset at the end of the Xtra Factor program, an hour after the result. Obviously the shock of losing was just starting to sink in.
Diane 12-16-2007, 07:46 AM well said Macetab you're absolutely right there. Rydian's face at the end was a picture and he was at the back of the gang when they all piled on to congratulate Leon.
I really thought Rydian would win it. His voice is outstanding. I dont know if Leon can take the pressure of the whole thing, he looks a little timid and shy.
Im more interested in the 'feud' between Dani and Sharon - ha ha ! thought Sharon may have uttered a few words under her breath but she kept her cool ! obviously wanting to be in the next episode !
While were on the subject what did you think of Kylie's first outfit ! even though she's as slim as can be she looked enormous in those black tights ! ha ha ! and not a wrinkle in sight ! tis amazing what Botox can do !
Think about it though, despite winning, no one has made a lasting success out of it, except Liona from last year and Will Young (Pop Idol).
Second place doesn't tie Rydian into a contract that Leon will be caught up in.
I can see Rydian all over The West End.
molly 12-16-2007, 11:56 AM Rydian is a fantastic singer, but to me he's more a West End Singer for musicals etc than a "pop star".
Leon on the other hand, I think is able to hit the higher notes better. His version of the song the recorded was sung better after the won. I loved the high note.
He is more popular with the kids than Rydian would be. Thats just my thinking on it.
lottie 12-16-2007, 12:11 PM I was for Leon winning, but thought Rhydian would win. I agree with Molly he will do brilliant in the West End AND he will have a brilliant operatic career. He has come out the winner here, he didn't need the title. Second runners up sometimes do better, look at Michelle McManus and Hear Say, winners?. Also i have said for a couple of weeks that Leon could be the dark horse. Anyway all from the finals will have an album out soon and some from the show will release something, look at The Cheeky Girls, rubbish songs but in the public eye.
caterina 12-16-2007, 06:52 PM Oh Dear i did want Ryydian to win nothing personal again Leon wish him all the Luck.. I think if you have pure talent which rhydian obviously has he will make it anyway. Good Luck Rhydian......
Caterina...
julieoapw 12-16-2007, 08:09 PM I think the Scottish vote swung it for Leon. I wouldn't vote for an act just because they were English but I think a lot of Scots think that they're re-fighting the Battle of Bannockburn. As soon as I heard them say it was a battle between 3 countries I feared the worst as people in England don't vote on nationalist grounds. Same thing with Journey South last year althought they didn't get as far. I fear the Scots would vote for a cabbage in a kilt, not that Leon was a cabbage. But he's definitely been flat on several occasions over the last few weeks.
If X Factor is going to become like the European Song Contest with some countries voting on nationalist grounds rather than talent, I don't see much point in continuing to watch it.
On the plus side, Rhydian will do well - he has a much longer shelf life than Leon and I think Cowell will give him a contract - he's bound to have first option. If not, someone else will.

Shane Ward is a success.

I wanted Leon to win, BUT i also liked Rhydian (he will still do well) and i am not fighting any battle. I don't vote just for Scotland, i AM Scottish but have liked other singers! By the way, what DOES a 'cabbage in a kilt look like' I have lived in Scotland for years and never saw one :unibrow:
lindylou 12-17-2007, 11:06 AM Lottie please forgive me for laughing - but I can't help but chuckle at the idea of a cabbage in a kilt !! I get a mental picture in my head of a little cabbage dressed up :D
oops - Julie that comment :PDT_Xtremez_42:
Lottie you are bound to comment. :002:
lottie 12-17-2007, 11:30 AM I find it funny about the cabbage but not the remark about voting for your own, i mean other parts of the country probably will be the same so i feel that is quite an unfair assumtion.
RoddersUK 12-17-2007, 11:37 AM 2006 winner - Leona.
2007 winner - Leon.
2008 winner - Leo. ????
julieoapw 12-17-2007, 12:27 PM Perhaps I could bring out an entire range! Do you think there's a market?!:)

julieoapw 12-17-2007, 12:33 PM Very early on Louis started saying "I hope everyone in Scotland will get on the phone and vote for you" trying to turn it into a matter of national pride. He knew it worked with the McDonald Bros. I've never heard anyone say that about someone from England. I don't think that every Scot would vote like that but those who always support every team that plays against England might.
BTW, I meant the Mac Donald Bros not Journey South. It justs seems to me that every year there's a Scottish act that gets voted through long after their talent merits it.
Beverley, Nicky, Rhydian were all better singers and I think Leon is the weakest singer ever to win it.
JMHO!

julieoapw 12-17-2007, 12:34 PM You could be on to something there Rodders!Think I'll enter next year under the name Leo!
2006 winner - Leona.
2007 winner - Leon.
2008 winner - Leo. ????

Louis also wound up Cowell and co, does that mean that everyone should jump on that bandwagon as well. EVERYONE has a chance Leon isn't that good BUT then again ANYONE can enter. If they get through well done, if not tough. Notice you stated that Scots vote for their own, funny, if someone else had won would it have been the same.
Waterways 12-17-2007, 05:48 PM Because of the controversy, this Rhydian will come out better in the end.
I see Welsh radio stations are boycotting Leon's record. How pathetic!!!!
And the name Rhydian sounds better than Leon.
lindylou 12-17-2007, 06:01 PM 2006 winner - Leona.
2007 winner - Leon.
2008 winner - Leo. ????
hmmm yeah, something to keep in mind for next year :ninja:
:)
julieoapw 12-17-2007, 08:29 PM Please debate with me here Lotte or PM me if you must, rather than *****ing about me on the shoutbox with your mates

Ok, for one i am not *****ing about you with my 'mates'. I am entitled to an opinion, if it differs from yours, that is not my problem. Just for your information, the comments you made were borderline racist.
If you can't accept an opinion, perhaps you shouldn't volunteer your own opinions. Also if you must type my name, it's Lottie not Lotte. Finally although i was born in Scotland i have spent most of my life in England.
