The tugboat Rossmore guiding the cargo ship the Norman Prince through the
Liverpool docks at xmas time in 1968. Notice the Xmas tree tied to the mast
for decoration. This was scanned from one of my old colour slides which very
conveniently always had the date printed on them which saves trying to remember when they were taken.

Hi Waterways,
I think it was the Alexandria dock, possibly being towed to the Langton dock

There are some more of mine on Philip g`s Old Liverpool site and on my Flickr

Fabulous pic, gregs dad. I am not surprise that singer songwriter Alun Parry is using it on the cover of his Liverpool 800 album! What's the news about that album? Is it already out or expected out?

I think you would enjoy the Stanley Dock area Philip. You have the locks at the end of the canal, and I can recommend the the mobile outside the Heritage market they do a big bacon butty and tea. Thats what I had on tuesday after I had taken a few pics then carried on to the Waterloo dock to do a bit of fishing from the wall .

I'm a great fan of Greg's Dad.
I was very surprised to learn that he wasn't a professional photographer.
Of course I love his black & white photos, but his colour photos from the early 1960s are extremely rare.
Here's one of New Brighton which makes an old bachelor like me feel very broody.

Sir!!! a Great photo indeed!!!! Must have been around 1961 then. The ship is of the Blue Funnel Line. And what a cute little girl!!!! She reminds me of my little girl.

I did mean the Stanley Dock with ships in it. :-)

Thanks Philip. The little girl in the colour pic is the one on the dock wall a couple of years later. The all sat still for the picture because they are all eating chips. We had no Macdonalds then.

Shaw Saville? Any idea of the name? The funnel looks Blue Funnel and does the wasteline.

3 chimneys at the back belonged to the Clarence Dock power station and were known as the 3 sisters. They were demolished in 1994.
The young lad looks as if he is hanging on to the stern of a barge or narrow boat.

One of my old slides of the Empress Britain in the old Gladstone graving dock in 1961. She was a frequent visitor to Liverpool before she was sold in 1963to become the Queen Anne Maria. She`s had a few owners and name changes since then like Olympic,Topaz. At the present time she is cruising round the world as The Peace Boat promoting peace, not bad for a 51 year
old lady.
