View Full Version : Petrol Prices
(No relation to Pete)
Where are the protesters when u need them eh? Where's are those brave individuals marching on our behalf about the ridiculous price of petty?
It's over a pound a litre! :PDT_Xtremez_42:
steveb 12-01-2007, 12:25 PM Like most, all talk and no action. Won't do much good anyway
as most of the pump price is tax and the government won't
lower it, as petrol, along with alchohol and tobbaco, are money
for nothing earners.
shytalk 12-01-2007, 01:06 PM I paid US$ 2.95 a gallon yesterday. :PDT_Xtremez_42: That is almost $1 more than this time last year.
A.D.W 12-01-2007, 01:41 PM We, therefore, must be paying about US$9 a gallon!!

That price is for a US gallon, not an imperial gallon, I think you will find it nearer $8
A.D.W 12-01-2007, 02:24 PM Quite corret. I was forgetting that there are only 3.7 litres to a gallon over in the American village and there are 4.5 gallons to the litre over here.

Cadfael 12-01-2007, 03:08 PM You drive a mini Kev! You could put a pint's worth of fuel in and it would last you all week :PDT10
You try driving a Volvo T5 with a 2.3 Turbo engine (petrol) mated to an auto gearbox. If I'm feather light on the throttle, I'd probably get about 19 around town :PDT_Xtremez_12:
jimmy 12-02-2007, 12:52 AM Petrol price here in Melbourne is around $1.30per litre ,as a lot of cars here are dual fuel, they run on gas or petrol, gas is around 55cents per litre A$= about 44p
phredd 12-02-2007, 08:45 AM Go LPG.
At less than 50pence per litre you can not go wrong and it's more GREEN than liquid gold.
Over 200 miles for £20 I love it.

My Campervan is getting converted over to LPG this winter. I'm just a little reluctant as that seems to be continually rising in price as well!
It might only save you a couple of pence, but you can find the cheapest petrol station from this website: http://www.petrolprices.com/

It will never go as high as petrol or diesel.
What van have you got? and may I ask where you are going to get it converted.
PM me if you like.
Mine was converted just over 12 months ago and it has paid for itself now.

I've got a VW T25. I'm very fortunate in that my father in law is just entering the gas conversion business, so I should get it at a reasonable price.
The only problem I've got with my Camper is that its our 3rd vehicle, so it only does about 2,000 miles a year at the most, hence the reluctance to shell out for a conversion!
But I know it makes long-term economical sense. The other downside is the government don't reduce the road-tax on it!!!!

That is the reason the tax on LPG is less than the tax on Liquid Gold.

ps = Dont forget to let DVLC know of the conversion as well.
@Phredd, btw. Sorry forgot to ask, what van have you got?

And yours ???
Aha, another wedge owner!
A 1984 Caravelle, 1.9. Started off life as a 7 seater, but I've converted it into a camper. Unfortunately it failed its MOT (on some clear fails, some are very debatable!), so its been off the road for the last month or so...
Just done a overhaul of the back brakes, front brakes are next up, and then some fairly minor things before putting it in for a re-test.
Are you on 80-90 at all? Or member of any clubs around here?

80 - 90 and Brickyard as "Phredd" :)
Haven't been on 80-90 for a week or so, so I don't know if there have been any updates, but maybe I'll catch you at the North West meet! (I'm bluebells over there btw).

Is it though? Don't forget, the price of crude oil has rocketed in less than a year. It's not just Government tax, it's the Arabs as well!!
