View Full Version : World Cup winners medals for Reds SteH 11-26-2007, 07:21 PM Ian Callaghan and Gerry Byrne are to be given World Cup winners medals after FIFA have decided to go back to 1930 and give winning squad members the medals not just the team. I was back in the U.S. by then so never saw him in that role but that's my understanding. Great to hear this as football is a squad game. He was only a winger till 1971 when he lost his place to Brian Hall after a cartilage injury. He was forward (the old winger). in short a winger!!!! He started off as a winger, but played about the last 7 or 8 seasons as a midfield player. Class in both positions btw. Nice to hear that Cally and the Crunch are getting recognised.:handclap:
