Hi

Wondering if anybody can help me find what this song is for a friend who posted this message on another forum, I have done the obvious such as google and various Lyric site searches all to no avail, anyone have an idea what it is?

"Don`t you ever cry,
don`t ever shed a tear.
Don`t you ever cry,
after I am gone.
Promise me you`ll smile,
darling all the while.
We`ll be back together
later on.
Don't you ever cry,
don`t ever worry dear,
soon each tear will be a memory,
tears are all in vain,
we`ll live and love again.
So don`t you ever cry for me"

Can anyone of the older generation remember this song and who sang it?

Hello sheilsy

Is it a song or is it wording from somebody's gravestone? The reason I ask is that the verses appear to turn up as Verse 14 at

http://www.marblememorials.co.uk/verses_11to15.htm

I hope this helps.

Thanks Chris,

I have spoken to the person who originally asked and she is convinced it is a verse from an old wartime song, but I have searched everywhere, all to no avail. Apparently her old ma used to sing it to her as a child, so it is possible it may have been a verse that her ma was aware of.

But thanks for your efforts
