They are not quite as rare as hen's teeth then?

[I meant to ask you Kev, is that picture on the front page of the Yo! Lambanana of your own property at last?]

The best thing about Yo is the photo threads . Folk like GD, Gerard and Scouse Smurf seem to be able to capture the real essesnce of Liverpool no matter how obscure the place they shoot. In fact the more obscure the better, the forgotten the hidden or just the ordinary made extraordinary by shooting from a different angle or light.Always a pleasure and often just the thing you need to let you know Liverpool is OK.
Keep the photos coming they really are appreciated

And how! Poor chap. Maybe there's some sort of clear glaze that's dung-resistant. Put a thin coat of it on him and other statues, and most of it should slide off onto their bases. Just 10 mins/wk to clean each base.

On the bird-poop statue question.

Rather than the expense of a coating I did think of perhaps a long thin metal rod at the back fixed to the bronze base with an expanded metal or similar bird repellent small canopy just above the head.
Then a funny thing struck me (but did not trickle down my back)...
The lower statue does not seem to have suffered as the one in the foreground. This may be because of the proximity to the building and whether there is bird-repellent mesh/spikes on the building. The birds, in the huff, may tend to stick close to where they wish to be?
More study needed? Off you pop. :)

How about wiring the rod and statue to an electricity supply and giving the birds a little shock-nothing too harsh just enough to move them on.
