I was at the Christmas fair on Saturday at St. Michaels Church in Garston.
To raise a bit of money they had a little tour of the 'Bell Tower'. How interesting this was! I went with my daughter who had a ring of one of the little bells (santa's bell) and a few of the bell ringers showed us how the bells were rung. And told us a bit about the bell ringing. Hanging on the wall they have about 10 little handbells, I have seen the bellringers use these at the Christingle service in church. Apparently these bells were donated to the church by Miss Watt of Speke Hall. They are a bit dull now , but one of the lady bellringers said that when she was a young girl attending the GFS ,the bells used gleam as her gfs leader (Mrs. Radcliffe) used to polish them.
