Paul McCartney actually put together a supergroup to perform an instrumental called Rockestra on his back to the egg album - there was about 20 in it though - and it's a decent song.

I'll check it out when I get in but meanwhile, i've been googling Zappa albums/forums to see what marks fans give his songs to see which one or two to get hold of to listen to.

The two i'm drawn to are 'We're only in it for the money' - 1968 and Sheik Yerbouti - 1979, possibly/particularly due to the Bobby Brown going down song perhaps. Would these be a good bet. Some albums only get 6 out of 10 - these are 9s. ???

Godd choices there Ged.
We're only in it for the money-check out the cover.
Sheik Yerbouti-caused uproar with the song "Jewish Princess" and remember the Peter Frampton song "I'm In You" ?. Well Zappa replied to that with the song entitled "I have been in you".(What the hell was Frampton thinking???).
Very good choices Ged.:handclap:

Yes, I noticed the mock Sgt Pepper cover and as it was only a year later, he was probably the first of many to copy it.

The Rockestra theme line up. Just thinking, George Harrison's Bangladesh concert wasn't too bad a line up either.

Probably the best drummer in the world (IMHO). I think your band would probably be louder, but not tighter. :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Devo

My obvious answer would be all the members of DEVO
(come on they been around for more than 30 years)

ok

There is already a ready made supergroup out there that you can still go and see........ Asia!
(March 4 - Liverpool Academy)

Steve Howe Guitar from Yes
Carl Palmer Drums from ELP
Geoff Downes Keyboards from Buggles
John Wetton Bass from King Crimson

if alive id swap the keyboard player for "Vincent Crane" from Atomic Rooster!

I remember my brother having a Devo album in the late 70's (the one where they wear stockings over their heads - Are We Not Men??). Thought they done a fantastic version of the Stones' Satisfaction. Space Junk is excellent as well.
