The name Cammell Laird has been bought and to be used again on the Mersey. The North West Ship Repairs sites at West Float in Birkenhead and Liverpool will also be called Cammell Laird. It appears ship building may resume at the Birkenhead ship yard. Currently only ship repairs is done there, and to many Royal Navy vessels.

McTay in Bromborough has reopened and is building small ships again. After ship building stopped after many hundreds of years on the river, it has started up again. Good news indeed.

Fantastic news, I'll have to find out more about this. It's the first I've heard.

Perhaps the river will rise again, as Jimmy Nail said of the Tyne in one of my favourite songs.

Merseyside and Tyneside are so similar with their shipbuilding heritage, both brilliant places.
