A Spongebob Squarepants Pumpkin Head for Ida

I buy a Halloween card for my Mom, and the plush toy. It's
73 years since Ida and Mum were sweet peas in the pageant
when King George and Queen Mary opened the Mersey Tunnel.

Ida's got breast cancer at age 87, receiving chemo.
I mail the package in Baltimore rain; it might reach her
by Halloween. What will Ida think, opening the package

while windsurfers brave the wind-raked boating lake?
