I know Barcelona have never had a sponsor before Unicef, but it surprised me seeing the pictures of Athletic.

Athletic had 'Euskadi' on their shirts a couple of years ago after qualifying for the Uefa Cup (those days seem long ago after the last couple of nerve-wracking seasons narrowly avoiding relegation). Although it was not advertising a company or business it was the equivalent of Tranmere having 'Wirral' on their shirts.
Personally, I didn't like the 'Euskadi' shirts. It spoils the whole tradition, let alone the aesthetic, of the red and white stripes.
St Pauli of Hamburg never used to have advertisements on the shirt, as they were founded and run by anarchists. But I think they do these days.
The only other major club I can think of is West Ham a few years ago, but then that was because they couldn't actually find a sponsor, rather than an ethical decision.
Marie, how do you feel about the plans for the San Mames?

I think that we need a new stadium. Its very sad to say goodbye to Anfield and San Mames, at the same time but personally, San Mames isnt a safe place and the services are very poor. U know that we usually be very tall, and a lot of friend cannot be confortables 90 minutes coz the seats are very very small. In Bilbao are a lot of girls every monday, maybe fifty and fifty, and only are 3 toilet for 15.000 girls?
People are worry for the ARCO. This is a symbol of the football and of the city, same with the Liver Bird here. People like one for the new stadium, but isnt possible... The plans for the new stadium wasnt asked to the people. Now we are fifhting to have the old than a point or in somewhere of the city, but we like this alive and we are recoleting signs for that.
People say that Wembley has got one for us. Coz Norman Foster was living in Bilbao for a long time, coz he mades the new underground 12 years ago. I dont know if this is true or not!!
San Mames is the only English's stadium in Spain. People next to the grass. We like a English's model again. There are a similar rules for us, similars to the kopites in the boom of the 70s, 80s, about respect and etcetera.

About the t-shirt anyone like that. We never have used banners, is to put dirty our name for us, and this could be in this year, for only 3mill of €uros. We like to conservate our 110 years of history, since that the mariners of Portsmouth showed us what is the football.
Thanx a lot for replay to everybody!! :PDT11
