There are 4 international breask before Christmas and after every single one of them Liverpool are away from home and have been selected for Sky TV's lunchtime game. Benitez is understandably furious.

This season for the first time Sky have been forced to share the tv coverage of the Premiership, with Setanta having 25% of the games. Setanta have a partnership with Liverpool.

Are Sky deliberately punishing Liverpool for their partnership with Setanta by inconveniencing them with these early games, or am I being paranoid.

Sky sports don't like Liverpool full stop imho they always accentuate the negatives wherever possible and Andy Gray very rarely gives an unbiased report on Liverpool games.

Liverpool played in Europe Wed night, Everton Thurs night - who has got the next prem league game, I think you'll find it's Everton by 26 hours.

You should just be glad Derby are accommodating you and giving up a Saturday 3pm kick off. Last season Chelsea refused to switch a game with Spurs and made them play at Saturday lunchtime after a Thursday evening game. A few years ago Man united did the same to ipswich after they''d been in the UEFA Cup.

Personally, I don't go in for all the mollycoddlin' afforded these supreme athletes on supreme wages anyway. If they're not fit enough to play in two games per week, which means you're successfully holding down a cup run or two, then you shouldn't be playing top class football at all.

I fully agree, if you keep telling players they will be tired then they will believe it themselves and be tired. Its funny how the same principle of rotation and resting doesnt apply in non league where players do full time jobs, train 2-3 times a week and play twice a week.

Yes Ste. You'll no doubt recall Liverpool winning the league with just 16 players or something like that - circa 1977 ish, they all got to know how each other played - the centre back pairings - the 2 strikers - the centre midfield. Likewise, when Everton had someone injured in the mid 80s - we bemoaned the fact that a 'not as good' replacement such as Richardson or Harper had to come in and hoped it wouldn't upset the balance.

I believe in playing your best 11 at all times - build up a lead if possible and then worry about any tiredness when and if it happens as all the 'experts' who've played the game at the top level say a team going well never get tired. Why have a load of rested and fit players trying to play catch-up in february?
