Hi All,

Can I thank everyone who has visited my site (http://www.petersheils.com) over the past month and left encouraging remarks, which has really given me the incentive to continue. I know a few people from Yo Liverpool in particular have visited and found it informative. so many thanks for visiting. I think I have learnt from my previous mistakes and am endeavouring to maintain a 'Web etiquette' basically attempting to be polite and non offensive.

I have recently updated the website quite a bit, with more picture galleries and now an online shop aswell as an exhaustive music section.

Hope admin don't mind me posting here, although I am promoting my site, my thinking is, it can run in conjunction with Yo Liverpool Forums and hopefully serve some interest to others.

Many Thanks

Pete

Some great stuff on there. It's coming on well.

The only thing I would say is that the cinema in Anfield (Oakfield Rd I think it is) is not the Astoria, but the former Gaumont Palace. The Astoria was in Walton by the flyover at the top of County Road.

The Astoria was a lot nearer town than that. The Astoria was on Walton Road on the next block to the Halfway House pub.

I`m old enough to remember the Astoria as cinema being easy to bunk in
(get in without paying for non scousers) this was done by a piece of wire
pushed through the exit doors down the side street by St. Mary`s Park.
Across the street from the Astoria was the famous Flemings dungaree (jeans)shop .

Yes Joe. Flemmings was demolished only recently and a new steel frame was up in no time. There must have been a basement, the foundations went down some way. New building there now.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks, it is appreciated.

Yes Ross your correct of course the picture you refer to is the gaumont based on Oakfield Road, and not the Astoria (Azzy) as I initially thought, although dont you think they are of similar appearance?

I have been led to believe it was Sammy Lees (former Liverpool Player & Ex-Bolton Manager) Dad who was the owner of the nightclub, dont know how true that is / was

I don't know about who owned it. It was a nice club at the time.
