Boost for housing plans on site of Thingwall Hall

A MAJOR £60m housing scheme in the grounds of Knowsley’s historic Thingwall Hall received an important boost last night when planning officers in Liverpool dropped their opposition.

The city council was expected to be one of the main objectors at a public inquiry in January to decide whether the 528-house estate by builders Redrow should go ahead. But senior planning officers in Liverpool will be calling on the council’s planning committee on Tuesday to withdraw its opposition.

An amazingly lovely house torched by someone working for our great city (names have not been given to quash a libel case :rolleyes:)

How anyone could think that it was accidently set on fire when we all knew it was prime building land.

I suspect that Sandfield Tower in West Derby would have gone the same way - well it has been fire damaged but the strength of the sandstone has kept the building up - derelect properties like this are worth far more to the council for the land than the actual property itself.
