Paul D 10-14-2007, 02:23 PM Halloween Lantern Carnival 2007
This year’s Halloween Lantern Carnival takes place on Wednesday 31st October in Sefton Park, Liverpool at 6.30pm. The route has changed from previous years and begins on Aigburth Drive and will start from the car park above the boating lake.
Taking as its central theme Labyrinth the spectacular free event will feature a large scale community lantern procession of 2000 participants, featuring 600 lanterns that have been made by 30 groups at venues around the city. There will also be giant illuminated puppets, street performers, dance, carnival bands, visual installations, live music, floating visual imagery, fireworks and an exciting interactive finale.

Looking forward to this, the whole procession is going to go around the lake this year so the people at the back don't miss out,I'll take my camera and see what I can do.

Fine pictures, but it would have been more pleasing to the eye is some were in colour.
lindylou 11-01-2007, 11:47 PM yes, I want colour pics :(
:)
petecarr 11-02-2007, 12:38 AM I shoot in B&W. By that I mean I shot them knowing how to get the best from using B&W. They wouldn't look good in colour because I didn't shoot in colour. At the ISO I was using they wouldn't look great in colour, far too noisy. These were shot for B&W. Contrasting scenes, atmosphere, film like grain effect. Just because its digital doesn't mean everything should be in colour.
Paul D 11-02-2007, 02:52 PM Here's a short video of the skeleton band

Hi Pete
Grateful to be able to view your photographs, Pete. Excellent work as usual. Although I have to agree that your decision to shoot in black and white seems an odd one, because to me the contrast of the colors against the background darkness is what would make the photographs.
