I was watching a programme on music in 1982 yesterday.

Captain sensible, he of the red beret, braces and stuffed parrot on his shoulder who sang 'Happy talk' from the musical south pacific was the guitarist with punkish band 'The D'amned' - they of 'Eloise'

He'd put a number of songs to the band which were rejected so he asked his record company to release them. They said he was one short and would like a cover version for his first single so to go home and root through his lps. He recorded Happy Talk but didn't want to release it. The record Co. rang him and said a well known celebrity was about to records it so he'd better be quick if he wanted to release it. It scared him a bit and prompted him to give the reocrd co. the go ahead. Of course there was no other celeb and happy talk made No1 for a number of weeks.

Come on Eileen was about Eileen Fahey, sister of Siobahn Fahey ex Bananarama and Shakespeare sister. Eileen appeared in the vid with Kevin Rowland giving her a kiss.

The programme featured OMD, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Japan and ABC amongst others including how they look now.

So whats the trivia Ged?
I do know that Duran Duran had a great guitarist who wrote one of the best Duran songs (Ordinary world)...Warren Cuccurullo.
I know Kajagoogoo had a tremendous bass player who later became part of the short lived but fantastic Ellis,Beggs & Howard.
There's my bit.Anyone ?:handclap:

Thanks Diane.

Music urban myths have also been popular over the years too.

Such as Bob Holness of (I'll have a pee Bob - Blockbusters) supposedly playing Saxophone on Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker St'.

There's even a DJ that takes pride in allegedly having started the rumour for a joke.

Bob never looked like he could blow a balloon up, never mind do a solo like that.

Oh those urban myths...
Zappa was supposed to have had a gross out contest (what is a gross out?) with Alice Cooper.
Rumour was Zappa ate excrement on stage (what a joke) but this rumour lasted for years.

That also done the rounds as Iggy Pop versus Ozzie Osbourne.

Another myth was that 10cc were named after the average sperm ejeculation measure.

Another myth was that Haircut 100 were any good. :unibrow:

I see she went into court in her wheelchair today.
I wonder why she didn't dance into court, or go onto the dance floor in her wheelchair?
Perhaps money is the answer to both questions.

The 2pm radio news has just said she may settle early (the first day in court) for £70M.

Not bad eh and an indication of how bad our 'justice' system is in this country where everything's supposed to be fair. Who here thinks she didn't add one pound to his wealth during their marriage, he'd have earned whatever he earned since their marriage anyway.

I'd certainly settle for for £70M.

She turned her nose up at the 20M offer a few months ago. I hope her cheek sees her get less but you wooden bet on it.

I'd leg it with the millions if I was her.:handclap:

She'll probably be hopping mad if she doesn't get it all!

BTW.
If anybody is offended by these comments, remember that she is trying to use her disability to her own advantage, so she's fair game.
She can't expect sympathy if she's in a dancing contest one month, and then being wheeled into a Divorce Court the next.

I think the sax player on Baker Street was Raf Ravenscroft. I think it is true that Bob Holness played sax in a jazz band though - but I could be wrong...
