View Full Version : Space Cadet
A Channel 4 reality show is aiming to trick contestants into thinking they have been launched into space.
Space Cadets, which will air on wednesday december 7th, will tell nine people they are to visit space thanks to a Russian tourism agency.
They will be told they are being taken to a Russian training base - but it will, in fact, be a secret UK location.

A strange premise for a "reality" show.
Do you think the unwitting contestants will suss the blag ?
I'm betting they do within 3 episodes... who'll give me odds? :unibrow:
This will be a big tv moment - the makers of BB are behind it I think.
What made me laugh was the fact that when they were 'whisked off' to the 'center' they circled in a plane for a while and landed back at the tv studio!!!!
Well lets see what C4 offers us this evening!!!!?... :doubt:
I loved it - they have chosen the thickest people in the UK - not difficult in this reality TV culture we live in. But seriously it was funny. I was interested in the accurate portrayal of a Russian Training facility!
Johnny Vaughn was great. The end of episode 1 was funny as they were greeted by a Russina fella.

They looked dead scared eh?
I'm in two minds about the show, I hope tonights episode gee's up the pace a little..
victorialush 12-09-2005, 09:37 AM Going into space is like Chessington World of Adventure x 10,000.
Have they not picked the biggest bunch of retards to go on this show?! I swear, don't they look around and go, 'why us?'.... I certainly would. Bunch of thickos!

Its the dumbing down of our society through the media. Up and down the country there are thousands of these immature adults.
I did enjoy it last night - call me an anorak but the authenticity of it all is great!

It was the first time I saw it last night and I laffed hard! I love the way they speak in Russian but the translation is something completely different :D
I don't think this would be repeated though, the amount of media coverage it has already received would put a question mark over anything else.
The Russina Actor was great!

I'm getting into this - beginning to feel sorry for them too
It is getting funny now eh?, the lecture about the monkey 'minsk' hahaha!!!, and they named a city after it :D ..
Poor Dave eh?, beasted on the parade ground, lost his toe nail and then gastroenteritis (sp!!), I bet he's cured...
And the other plant actor, I think is going to burst out laughing and bubble Johnny Vaugn
Good stuff, double episode tomorrow gang

That other actor is great - he's got 'one of those faces', a comedy one perhaps. The other night when he forgot was he was doing and asked a question in the Lecture, lol - actually getting into it himself... Well done Channel 4 :PDT11
I thought the fella that went did so as part of the programme but he did go through it. I love the way they are all getting on and propper studying for stuff lol.

Now how do u report these to mission control....?
garstonlad75 12-11-2005, 02:34 PM I think this is a brilliant show, it has kept me amused.
The girl crying over minsky the monkey had me in stitches.
We also belong to a cluster of planets called the "nutcluster". "the what cluster" asks one of the retards. "The nutcluster" replies the lecturer. The retard then promptly writes down the invaluable piece of information.
I think they should end the programme in style though.
Ending: the retards are 'in space' lapping up their amazing view of the world and our solar system, when........................there is a knock at the spacecraft door.
Talk about coming back down to earth with a bump. I think i would p155 myself at the look on their faces.

garstonlad75 12-13-2005, 08:35 PM I wanna know if they have caught that moth in the studio yet.......................now an image of that projected on the screen would be funny !!!!!!

The reason they couldnt open the windows LOL, because of a moth! Did you hear the 'actor' saying he was going to blow the whole thing if they didnt send his agent £250,000? He later said he was joking but I thought he was serious at first.
garstonlad75 12-14-2005, 07:57 AM The look on their faces whilst they were 'looking down' at earth was a picture.
I have always said that it would be the ultimate feeling to go into space and look down on what 99.99999999% of the world population will only ever know.
How are these people going to ever get over the let down of finding out it was a joke. I wonder if it could mentallay destabilise them.............................further !!!!!

Don't worry - a highly trained team of pschologists will be on hand as C4 usually provide them.
Ok, I've just had a thought - What if they are all actors and the joke is on us, the viewer?

I was thinking this last night, wouldn't they become really messed up after spending all them weeks living a lie.... I would be seriously fuming but question everyones motives ever again... would you even trust anyone again.
And the way the friends and family are all up for making a fool of them... I would not do this to my friend... thats messed up!!
There has been some chat about the members of the families being actors too.
I say that a good move would be to create an 'Apollo 13' scenario - put the willies up 'em! Scare them senseless!
garstonlad75 12-16-2005, 07:53 AM The look on the faces of those who never got to
go 'into space' was brilliant.
Then to take them onto the spacecraft to show them what it was like, the blatant cheek of it.
Johnny Vaughan has been brilliant all the way through.

yes, i agree. there was one 'girl' who was bitter and one (obviously jealous) who mentioned how 'happy' she was now that they had not really gone up.
So have u seen 'Shaggy' in the commercial yet?
I'm ashamed i loved the hour long episodes, but hated the 2 hr tripe at 2 in the mornin' pukes... Give us more Johnny, crackin idea for a show.... Minski :D, I'm still gigglin';D
