Rumfords Coach House & The Mayflower

Does anybody out there recall either of these two Liverpool Venues. Rumfords Coach House which later changed its name to 'Sires' Nightclub, which was in Rumford Place, close to the Pier Head and The Mayflower was a pub just around the corner. Is there anybody out there who frequented this pub/club circa 1978/79, and has any memories I would love to find some photographs if anybody has any, I know this is a longshot, but I can hope

I was in Rumfords on the opening night in 1973. A friend of mine did re-furb and my mates band played.

Did you put the hinges on?

I went into the Mayflower once back in the 60s I think it was. Although I was tanked up at the time I thought it was quite seedy

I frequented both pubs in the early and mid 80s during our lower end of town pub crawls. I believe Rumfords coach house was then owned by Tommy Smith and became Smithy's coach house. Our group used to play in the Mayflower, Fazakerley St and lots of the local tenement lads used to go there and fight with the Kirkby mob, it was like a western sometimes. Other pubs we went to at that end of town were the Brunswick, Rising sun, United Powers, Mellors house at the top of Moorfeilds then over the road to the Lion, Railway, Yates, Pig & Whistle, Tradewinds bar in the Atlantic Tower hotel and Tom Hall's tavern on the Strand.
