Got a few of those discharge books myself John belonging to my stepfather, here`s his last one as you can see from the last entry he died at sea.
Had to go down to the Huskisson Dock as his ship docked to collect his possesions at 2;30 in the morning, in case they went missing. I was 18 at the time.
The books stretch back to 1923.

Fascinating stuff Joe, sad too that he died at sea. Would he of wanted to go that way? Did most of the seamen want to be "buried" at sea ?
