Does anyone have pictures of 125 Smithdown Place my grandparents shop in 1937?
I have some 70s pics of Smithdown Place but not sure of the shop numbers - let me look.

Forgive my ignorance, but was this a new-build back then? There is no Smithdown Place listed in the index of my 1928 road atlas. :(
There is this though...

As well as the bit of road surrounding the 'Penny lane roundabout' which of course is in Smithdown Place, the next section of road heading towards Allerton Road is also called Smithdown Place.

Got quite a few of Smithdown Lane showing pubs and a bank, marble merchants, tennies, post office etc. Can't make out the numbers, what type of shop was it, these pics are all from the 60s though.

The shop was a general store.
You know the kind that always had a cat purring on a stack of newspapers at the end of the counter & the kids sweets were wrapped in paper cone made to measure.
