Where's the nearest neighbourhood pub to All Hallows CofE Church on Allerton Road in Calderstones? I don't mean Yates' and New York Wine Bars on Allerton Road either, I'm looking for a proper pub.

Either the Rose of Mossley on Rose Lane or the Greenhills at Booker Avenue and Greenhill Road. The latter probably being marginally closer.

It'll be the Greenhills on Greenhill Road. I remember being told in school in the 80s that when houses around there were being built the Marquess of Salisbury, who owned most of the land around there, had a major issue with alcohol hence the lack of traditional pubs in that area.

a lot of land was owned by a Quaker family who did not like drink and even contracted Welsh Presbyterians to build on their land, this is why there are no pubs but plenty of churches from Parliament Street right through to the far end of Aigburth (with the exception of Lark Lane and The Belvedere Pub).
Back on topic, I guess that The Heath would have been one of the closer pubs

`the storresdale` is definitely the nearest,and yes bmd,its still open,though now it`s a lock up pub.the manager doesn`t live in the pub.....regards....allan
