The Birkenhead Tramway faces an uncertain future after Wirral council budget cut's cause staffing problems. Let's hope that someway can be found to keep this popular attraction open http://tramways-monthly.com/2011/10/birkenhead-tramway-faces-winter-shutdown/

I hope not. It will be a great loss.

If the Tramway closes we will lose a big part of Birkenhead's history.

Birkenhead had the first street tramway in Europe, opening in 1860.

Very sad news. What happened to the proposals / rumours that Mersey Travel were going to buy the tramway and eventually extend it to Seacombe Ferry?

Did they die a death when Merseytravel decided not to buy Pacific Road?
