Hello All!

I'm Lori.. I live in California, USA.

I'm seeking an old friend, and hoping you all might help. I haven't much to go on, and it's hard to do UK searches from the US.

Please tell me if I'm in the right place.

My friend, who I've not seen in 20 years, is from Liverpool, and, according to his exwife (who gave the info grudgingly) he's back there today.

He's now somewhere about 57-67 years old. His name is David. (and yes, I do know his last name, but I'm not sure that posting it publically is the right thing to do... help!)

I remember that he was born in either Nov or May (better than nothing), that he has grown children, that he lived in the US (in Florida) for several years.

I miss him, and we're not getting any younger. (no foolin' eh?)

Can anyone there help me? I'd be so appreciative..

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this, and even considering my request.

Best Wishes-
Lori

I think you're going to have to post a surname. Also, try on the Echo ex-pats bulletin board.

Well then, his name is DAVID BRIGHT.

Click here (http://forums.liverpoolecho.co.uk/index.php) for the Echo forum, the Ex-Pats section is about halfway down the (long) page.

Good luck :PDT11

Thanks, yes.. but what's an Electoral Roll and how does one get further with the search?

I think the issue is that I'm here, in the US (close to Haight/Ashbury, BTW!) and just don't "get" the search engine.

Furthermore, I've not a clue where to go next.. I can't make a bundle of overseas calls to try and locate him. pooh.

Any other advice? I really appreciate your help!

Go to www.vonage.com change your 'phone provider to them. The fee is $25 a month + taxes and includes calls to all the USA,Canada and 5 European countries including the UK and Ireland. I have used them for almost 3 years and it is a great service.

Hi there!

What's "GR"?

I'm not going to get too excited, I know that "David Bright" is a common-ish name, and there may well be several in the area.. but I *am* excited that you took the time to help, and I thank you so much for your efforts, even if they don't result in finding the David I seek.

You're a doll!

Karen-

Hi again- I think it's the middle of the night on your side of this big pond, but here it's naptime for the rugrats, so I'm online! :)

I was wondering, besides the geneology site, are there other big reunion type sites in the UK that don't charge? Here in the US, we have several, but of course, they're of no use to me! :)

I tried "Friends Reunited", but of course they charge like $20 to send a note once you've accessed the profiles. I'll never use this option again, as I'm looking for no one else in the UK.

Any other thoughts? Thanks for helping me, I truly appreciate it!

Hi Karen-

Ah, Friends Reunited must be like our ClassMates. I was able to search for "David Bright" there, and I located several in the approximate age range, but when I sent a note, I got a "pop up" that said (basically) "Oh! You want us to deliver that? Well, THAT will cost ya!" hahahah!

I'd *love* it if one of your friends would send notes to the 'David Bright collection', but it seems a lot to ask...

I so appreciate your help on this..

No, I don't know if he lives in Merseyside, or, for that matter, where he might be. :( His exwife told me he'd gone "back to Liverpool" and that's all I know. Not much to work on, I'm afraid!

Thanks for being so gracious!!

now that my feet are back on the ground (ahem)

I'm almost positive David had a sister named Gillian, so I'd put money on this being the right guy.

Very exciting!

Do you have my email address already? Or do I need to send it to you? Obviously I'm not going to post it publically if I can avoid it! :)

I can't tell you how exciting this is. I'm really delighted. I haven't spoken to David in 20 years.

To you, my Dear, I send a HUGE HUG! This has been a cruddy week here (my Mom had major surgery, my inlaws are staying here- ugh. the list goes on) and you've totally brightened my life! Thank you immesureably for all you've done!

hug hug hug!!

Does any of my fellow members or guests know a bloke in the Liverpool area called David Richard Pugh?

I have a message from an old neighbour of mine that his daughter wants to make herself known to him

He is married, twice I believe, and has at least one daughter.

This information is thirty years old and I will act as a go between if David is out there and wants or doesn,t want to get involved.

Thanks.

Hiya Chippie ,
If you can find a rough year of birth i'll have a go for you , but be real careful with this one , it can be so delicate as he & his new family may or may not wish to be contacted , PM me if you wish with any details that you have .

Take care

Hiya Karen, I know what you are saying and I,m not too sure about it myself but if the lad wants to see his daughter I could help, if he doesn,t, well I never contacted him. I know how tricky these things are but I did offer my help to this old neighbour when I found her recently .

I,ll pm you when I can get further information for you, thanks.

Hi Jimmy ,
Would those names have been the maiden names or married names of the females ?
If it's their maiden names we'll have our work cut out trying to locate them , For some reason i find Men much easier to locate ," WONDER WHY " lol. after saying that , if the names are published eg in the Liverpool Echo , some ones bound to know one of them & get in touch ,
Do you have a rough year of birth , like 1940's etc .
Take care , best wishes
