Hi posters
I made a posting under Urban Developments--Pubs of Liverpool, #541 today, but I think it would have been more appropriate here under Wavertree.
If anyone cares to read my posting and answer I'd be very pleased to get some feedback..

There are not many bad areas in Wavertree. I lived there for a long time and played guitar and sang in most of the pubs there. I still have loads of mates there and there are no problems.

Hi posters
I've never been to Liverpool, but my grandad was born in Wavertree and his family lived around that area at the end of 19th century.
I plan to visit Wavertree this November and want to visit Smithdown Road, Toxteth Cemetery, Lark Lane, Holmes St., Holy Trinity Church, Christ Church, Bickerton St., Cantsfield St., Aigburth, Sefton Park, Greenhill Rd. and Allerton Rd. to take some photos and have a couple of pints in pubs where my ancestors probably did too.
However, from the photos I've seen here of the boarded up and burnt out pubs in that area, some of these places seem to be run down, rough areas these days.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't want to be mugged by hoodies whilst walking around like a tourist.
Any comments or suggestions from people who know these places would be appreciated.

Hi Rob

I wouldn't say any of those areas are run-down enough to not want to walk through them. The top end of Smithdown Rd beyond the cemetery is looking run-down these days but it's not a no-go area.

The top of Lawerence and Picton road I see most of the scallies around.

I go along with what Iain has said. Some of the pubs and places at the top end of Smithdown Rd, near to Lodge lane can be a bit dodgey but there are definitely not 'no go' areas.
It's a great and lively place to be. Go to the Waldeck on any weekend and listen to my mate Freddy play and sing.

Thanks for all the reassuring information.
I'm really looking forward to my visit.

I have walked a lot of nights, and I never saw nothing strange... but I went all years to Ciudad Juarez and other places, and I never had a problem there.

Max, are boys with bicycles and black sport clothes, but I nevermind that they re dangerous. U never was 15 years old? :PDT10

Sounds OK then Marie.
Ciudad Juarez is a dump--seems all the worst parts of Mexico are on the border with the US and aren't really representative of the rest of the country.
Raining in Wavertree today I see--here there's a beautiful blue sky and warm sun.

Yeah!! But remember the rain days the last august in Cdad Juarez!! :cha (41): Maybe sound rare, but I love this weather like and all very green green, but I recognize that the desert also has its enchantment, the sunset from mountains of El Paso, are incredible!!

Yeah!! I spent one month per year there. I have my family father there. They were moving to Mexico by the Spanish Civil War.

Last year, on the end of October, I went to Cáncun. I was one day diving in Women's Island, and visiting the ruins of the Yucatan. The following day I went Mexico DF. Some relatives moved there, coz they are employed for the Government at the Department of Nuclear Power and at the Agrarian National Record. Enjoyment of the All Souls' Day, Teotihuacan, of the Aztec Stadium, and then I happened(passed) a few days in house of other relatives in Guanajuato. Later I travelled in the southern part, Chiapas, Belize, Guatemala... and I went home of a few friends of the family in Guadalajara. Visit Tequila, Souza! Oh My God!!;) Puerto Gallarta and Tequila Express. Later I raised the Mochis, and there I took the Chichuahua Pacific, Chepe, Chihuahua direction. The trip in train lasted a day, and was prettiest than I have done. I knew a pile of Tarahumaras, charming people. In Chihuahua I spent the night, and later I was two weeks between City Juarez, where my grandparents live, and the Step. Two separated cities by something more than a wall. I was collaborating in the Colonies and char them in the University of UTEP, on the femicidios. Thence we visited Carlsbad Caverns, Houston, Los Angeles, the Fertile valleys,… Last days, I went to Azteca Stadium again to see the match Vs Atlas, very bad!! hahaha!! I prefer Los Chivas!! :)
I hope to someday visit Monterey, Veracruz, and thousands of places that still I do not know.

Stephen, You can do it with the alt key plus a code or copy and paste from the character map in Accessories/system tools.
I only know the codes for American keyboard. £ ¿ are 2 examples.
In my last job I had to type in 3 different languages and they sent me on a course to learn how to do it.

Good site Drone, gave me the answer to my question about how many keyboard formats there were. :)
Another point is, on keyboards without the numeric 10 keypad such as laptops, you can still use the codes using the 'blue' keys.
