Are there any differences politically, as to which way either of the local newspapers slant? (Eg. One being more pro Labour, or the other more in line with the Torries?)

Definitely, the Daily Post is a conservative supporting paper although not openly. It champions many middle class Liverpool and wirral issues and has an excellent slant towards the business community in Liverpool and an excellent economics section. It could be said that the Daily Post has remained one of the last vestiges of the old Tory Liverpool which dissapeared when Liverpool declined economically.

The dear old Echo is a Scouse populist paper. It is hardly a Labour supporting paper but represents its readerships views on crime, antisocial behaviour, regeneration, family issues, jobs etc and in that sense is moderate although not New Labour. The Echo stood vehemently against Militant in the 80's but also the Thatcher government and has been critical of Tony Blair.

Irregardless of the views, at least the Post has proper stories in it. The Echo is getting worse by the week.
