WORLD-FAMOUS acts are heading to Merseyside for one of the country’s biggest festivals.
A host of top names has been signed up for Liverpool Music Week, the UK’s largest indoor winter event.
They include dance heavyweights the Chemical Brothers and ska maestros Madness, who will both appear at the Aintree Pavilion.
One huge worldwide name is due to be confirmed soon, along with some major bands.
This year, 200 groups will play at 15 venues throughout Merseyside at a series of ticketed and free concerts, between November 30 and December 9.
Also appearing are Pendulum, Good Shoes, Simian Mobile Disco, Lightspeed Champion and Friendly Fires.
They will play at Liverpool venues including the Carling Academy, Philarmonic Hall, Nation, Parr Street Studios, Barfly, Fact, Korova, Bumper, Zanzibar and Magnet.
Growing from a single venue in 2003, the festival attracted up to 65,000 people last year and will grow further this winter.
Liverpool Music Week founder Mike Deane has since joined forces with Cream to promote the event.
In previous years, the Wombats, Kooks, Ian McCulloch and La’s have performed.
Experts in the music industry will be hosting seminars to share advice about the profession.
There will also be a record collectors’ fair, a series of music cinema screenings and a showcase of Liverpool’s under-18 talent.
Mike Deane said: “We've added new dimensions to the festival this year to accommodate bringing more high-profile artists to the city.
“For Liverpool's artists and venues, it now means we will be attracting tens of thousands more gig seekers into the city.”
Cream chief executive James Barton said: “Liverpool Music Week is a great concept and is a totally new approach to music festivals.
“It’s something that we’re very excited to be involved in and feel that together we can make this a national event for Liverpool to be proud of.”
Tickets are already on sale for some events.
