Kev.
I can't send any because of the following.
I don't know if this is happening to everybody, but it says my PM box is 100% full, when it's empty.
Apparently, I've got 17 messages (presumably read), but both my Inbox and Sent Mails are 0.
It asks me do I want to delete them, so I try, but nothing happens, and my box is still full.
Philip.
Hi Phil,
According to the database, you don't have any PMs. Try logging out, deleting your cookies and logging back in.
Let me know how you get on.

I checked mine andmit says I have 7 read, but none are shown
pressing delete messages has no effect. I have logged out and
back on again, no difference
Mine looks fine a long green line..........:)

Firstly, I am so glad this forum is back running again...it was hard starting JMU and not having this forum to come back home to. Was greatly missed.
I was wondering if the following query could be answered by someone... Has the PM utility been dis-abled for the duration or is this a permanent development?
Keep up the good work folks, apologies if this question is somewhat premature!
Its a permanent withdrawal.
Glad to have u back

Hi Kev.. I am trying to understand.. If we have friends listed.. how can we possibly keep in touch if we don't have the pm option? And that means not being able to talk with new friends, and old ones, if we don't have emails for them???? Just wondering:snf (41):
That's unfortunately the way things are now. Sorry.

On another site I am on they have a section called 'Say something uninteresting'
in the chat section. its full of things people have done and chit chat. Maybe we could steal it and make it 'Say something interesting to others' where we could leave comments. Just an idea as like NL I would miss not being able to chat to others on the forum. I totally understand the reasons why it was taken away so if this may cause problems disregard it. :)

Sweetcheeks.. Private messaging is for Private chat.. so, don't think putting something into a box that says "Say something uninteresting "...would due for a chat with your friend.. or to get an addy..It is private ..
But, thanks for the info.. well meant.

I understand your frustrations NL but due to all that has gone on, I don't think that facility will ever come back. I wasn't being rude with the title Say something uninteresting by the way.

Question... Why are some posts put up promptly when I post...and others posts get.." have to be approved ?" I am not understanding this? It is taking forever to get approved on a simple answer to anothers post..
Some areas require approval, and I usually approve messages within minutes during the day. Unfortunately, I have to go to bed now and again.
Kev [4am - approving posts]
I think those people who can be trusted should have theirs up without moderation. Newbies until known should at least expect a few mins approval, anyone with a 'past history' also moderated. Kev will know who these are.

There are VBulletin addons that might help with this.
For example Cyb - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count - vBulletin.org Forum (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=123002)
This gives users greater powers depending on their number of posts. So as you become more established and therefore more trusted you get to be able to do more things.
e.g. Once your post count reaches a certain value you get rewarded with being allowed to post in the main site. (When you have a low post count you can read the whole site but only post in specified areas)
You can set different values on each sub forum as well and allow PMs based on counts as well I think.
