Masterpieces of modern art will be put on display at the Tate during the Capital of Culture celebrations. Works by Bridget Reilly and Stanley Spencer will also be included . . . . calm down I told yer................. calm down!
"It's the arrival of The Kiss which is really exciting art lovers," the pre-publicity reveals. The placing of this sculpture will require unique building and engineering input with windows being taken out of the Liverpool Tate to slip it in to rest on the second floor dedicated to Andy Warhol's Marilyn Diptych and other great works.
Many will think a new home could have been found for it and the other exhibits at a busy site situated at the roundabout where Jericho Lane meets Riverside Drive.
If you're queing for tickets to see these great works of art then do put your alarms on. Be prepared to camp out; bring warm clothing such as blankets, and of course bring hot drinks.
Extra police are being deployed to maintain good order when the ticket office opens. Don't let the city down now.
For those who may miss the exhibition there will be a grande finale. A director from the law firm DLA Piper, which is sponsoring the event, is having an eclectic new suit made up for him by three travelling tailors.
At the close of this art extravaganza he and his entourage will parade down Old Hall Street, take a right to the Pier Head; proceed to walk on water along Briny Avenue to The Tate. Thereupon they will genuflect and murmur exultations to The Museum of Modern Farce.
Visitors both local and tourists are encouraged to line the sidewalks and be thrilled by his new raimants. They are reminded however that being mere mortals and often unable to appreciate true art they must not follow the princely procession as it makes its sandal-foot way across the waves. This is going to be so exciting, we just cannot wait.
