Well can I begin by thanking everyone with their patience over the last few days and thanks for returning so enthusiastically. Its not until the site is down for a period of days do I realise the importance of Yo! Liverpool and the 'community'.

I too had withdrawal symptoms, irritation, anxiousness etc.... lol

Anyway, onto business:

The server move didn't happen as planned. I realised very quickly that the task of moving the site and contents to a new server was going to be huge especially for someone like myself who learns as he is going along, having no qualifications in server management.

Its like moving from Primary School into Senior School, remember how mad that was eh?

So after a few days of playing about with other websites I own that don't involve over 1000 members and rising (Yo! Liverpool), I'm pleased to say that I successfully moved a site over today without any problems (http://www.santa-dash.com). I will continue this process with my others until I am confident that any move of Yo! will go painlessly, without incident.

So if you attempt to login to Yo! and you see the 'Plesk' page or you cannot view, I will be in the middle of a very long and boring Server move. This should happen very very soon.

So there you go. I can't give you a date at the moment but when it happens, please be patient :PDT11

This might sound like a daft question but why is there a need to move servers? Is it to allow the forum to grow and expand with ease?

Yep, the original database where all of the posts are stored is almost full. The new server allows me to have an unlimited database capacity allowing us to grow and expand when we need to.

Good luck to you when you finally make the move to the new server, and thanks for being cautious about doing it. I think even an experienced tech wizard might need to be careful with transferring a large site to a new server, so you are wise to be judicious in the way you approach it. :handclap:

Okay, now the celebrations are over, I'm going to attempt the server move THIS FRIDAY, providing I don't get dragged off to Knowsley Safari Park again or a similar place, don't say I didn't warn ya :PDT10:PDT10.

Don't Panic

Things you need to know:

****It will happen late morning/ early afternoon (11am/12pm)

****We will be off line for a few hours and should be back online for late afternoon/ tea time (4/5pm).

****We may experience a few teething troubles when we are back. Not all images may display, attachments may be unavailable, as might profile pics and avatars. Of course I will aim to make sure these things don't happen.

****During the move I may change the forum structure, move posts and threads around, join them together(merge) and perform some misc. mainenance.

****When we return there may be a few of you that cannot get back on. DELETE YOUR COOKIES and log back in to see if that works.

Steven, I'm of the belief that what members get up to on other sites is their business and issues shouldn't be brought here that happen else where, that includes problems members are having with each other and exchanges that are made through emails, instant messengers etc.

If you are about to question another Moderators performance on Yo! Liverpool for no good reason other than there's issues away from the site then I can't put my time and effort into it and you won't find any support from me posting stuff (as above) with no evidence in the many posts I read.

So, what I'm trying to say is that personal issues you have had or are having with someone should not be brought to Yo! Liverpool. I hope I have your support plus the support of the involved members with this.
