My son has downloaded some music from a free site (Limewire).
He selected 20 songs and we transfered them to disk.

here's the mystery: the disk plays fine on the computer, but when we try it in a CD player there is no sound

any ideas ??

Couple of things here lindylou,

1) never use lime wire as it's riddled with spyware, viruses and such.
use Emule, Edonkey if you must.

2) are the extentions on the files you down loaded Mp3 or Cdf,
IE: song1.mp3 or song1.cdf, if the extention is mp3 then it will play on computer but not cd players.

if you have mp3's then to play them on cd's you need to burn them using windows media player.

I suspect that the files have been copied to disk in mp3 format and that's why it wont play on your cd player.

I can only point you in the right direction on Nero or Roxio. Basically you need to create your cd as an audio disk to expand the mp3 file to play on the cd player.

I concur about Limewire being virus laden. Download BitLord or Azureus as your download engine and go on to a site like torrentreactor or torrentspy and look for files that have a lot of 'Peers'.

There are MP3 converters on the net, the one I have will only do 5 tunes in the free version, you have to buy the full version.

I use Soulseek and the burn on to CD using Sonic, works everytime.

Can't the disc be created through media player ? I'm sure u can make an audio disc though that,

I usually use nero but if u haven't got that, give media player a try
