The 4 also goes there.
Like most buses in Liverpool you have to change in the City Centre.
Queen Square is the best place, because the Merseytravel Office is there, and there are always staff in yellow jackets to ask, and most buses go through Queen Square, or nearby Eliot Street.

Because of your name, I don't know if it's a delicate question or not, but can you walk?
The 86 for instance will take you to the Rialto, and it's not far from there.
If you can't walk (or don't want to), carry on into Town, and get the 1 or 4 from Queen Square.
But remember you will have to make your way from Lewis's.

hobblehobble

lol

ignore my username

the truth is im 18 and i can walk

its funny you mention thta actually because i can run 100 metres in 13 seconds, walked to town and back, walked up to 3 miles a day sometimes, around twice a week, so yes i can walk

and rialto takes me to the exact same location as the 75 , so that wont help much,

PhilipG
09-06-2007, 12:31 AM
What do you mean it won't help much?
You've only got a bit of Upper Parly and then Parliament Street to walk.
No offence, but I'm over 60, with Angina, and I can manage it.

AHHH, a comedian.. Seriously for £30 you will not even get a bedsit

on gumtree , ive seen flats/apartments whatever you call it, for 35 a week

its one room, a toilet, bath, possibly washing machine and dryer if ur lucky, all bills paid

no internet or tv etc, must bring ur own if you want one

no kitchen, just a fridge

so they do exist

You've answered your own question then, but I think you're being s crewed if you pay £30. According to that drama on t.v. last night, the cockle pickers were only paying £25 - mind you, there were 12 of them sharing.

marie

I promise that I believe u, but I can not believe the adverts, I think that the flats are not in good conditions, bad areas, non furnished, off bills,...

I do not know too much people here, only a family, they have houses to share from 60 to 80 pounds per week with bills, in good houses. I do not know now if they have free rooms now, but if u like, i could ask to them.

I think that u could find good houses from 60-100 per week, and if u are a worker, it is not money.

it says 30 pound a week, at most with bills it will be 45 , even though it clearly says bills will be paid for within the 30 a week

30 a week is a lucky find though, the most common cheap price is 35 a week

just one room, toilet and shower head, if your lucky a kitchen, and even luckier a tumble dryer and washing machine in the apartment too,

I think you can buy a weekly ticket off the driver on Stagecoach buses & maybe Arriva but you can only use it on their buses & no other bus company
Its just like a day rider that you pay about £2.40 but it lasts the week

Genevieve
09-26-2007, 11:41 PM
You can buy a weekly pass on the bus and use it as much as you want except for night buses. It's £11 with the Arriva buses and £13 with Stagecoach buses.

hobblehobble

Genevieve
09-26-2007, 11:50 PM
As soon as you take the bus outside the regular schedule you have to pay about £3 to get a ticket even it's the same bus number with the same company. The time depends on the bus line so I recommand you to get a schedule at Queen Square then you'll be sure.

I remember when the Stork hotel was there, and Liverpool cold storage, I believe the cold storage building had once been a theatre and had an impressive facade. There was talk of the front being saved when it was all demolished and a new building built behind it but it never happened. The hackney office was in Roe st. and was run by the police. There were several small pubs and shops dotted around the place too. :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Ged

Queens Square was originally the fruit and veg market where all the stalls were in front of the Stork Hotel. At the same time, the Union Cold Stores was in Williamson Square.

Later, Queens Square became a car park and those walk over bridges were built and Tumbles was the toy shop built under the bridge on the north side of Roe St, as DaisyChains says. City Pets was next door to the Cunarder pub, this was when the precinct had the Moon Stone pub, The Star and Garter, Rotters night club (which became Top Rank), The Sportsman pub as well as the still existing Penny Farthing.

I remember the first fire in the precinct that started in Habitat, being local, we all piled down there.

You can get a solo ticket from the post office for £13-60, you can use this on any buses at any time. As someone already said if you buy the arriva or stagecoach ones but you can only use their own buses, which is a pain in the backside if you just miss one and can't get the next one because you have the wrong ticket. There's also the trio which is a few pound dearer but you can use it on bus, train or ferry.

You've already been told everything about the 82.
That big round building in Queen Square is the place to go.
They have timetables which you can take away, which even give the routes the buses take.

Shop for jobs scheme launched

THOUSANDS of jobs are being created in Liverpool's booming retail and leisure sectors.

Now, shops, hotels, leisure and tourism businesses in the city centre are to benefit from a new recruitment and development service - Shop for Jobs.

Shop for Jobs supports employers to meet their staffing needs. This new initiative brings together the agencies currently dealing with employment and training in the city to work with the businesses to help them best meet their recruitment and training needs.

The project will be officially launched at a business breakfast in Liverpool Town Hall on Thursday 24 May to be addressed by Council Leader, Cllr Warren Bradley.

Cllr Flo Clucas, Executive Member for Economic Development said: "Liverpool is booming as a shopping destination with developments such as Liverpool One, the Metquarter and Central Village.

"With developments such as ACC Liverpool there will be an increasing number of visitors to the city. And, of course with 2008 looming large there will be a huge influx of tourists for the Capital of Culture.

"It all adds up to a huge increase in the numbers of job in these areas - with up to 8,000 being created. Added to this is the natural turnover of vacancies in existing businesses and there are big issues facing employers in recruiting the right calibre of staff.

"Shop for Jobs will help them in all aspects of staff recruitment, training and retention.

"It is clear that there is a need for this initiative and I am sure employers will welcome it."

Shop for Jobs will be based in a city centre location and will provide free business advice on recruitment, training and workforce development; matching clients to jobs; retention and progression initiatives. Training will be tailored to meet the needs of individual employers.

The 15-strong team will also advise on how to access additional funding which may available

They will also focus on ensuring that those people who will benefit from the jobs and training opportunities include those currently at a disadvantage in the labour market.

Staff for the team will come from a range of organisations including The People Pool, Jobcentre Plus, Connexions and JET.

Other partners include the Learning and Skills Council, Centre for Vocational Excellence, Liverpool Community College, training providers and the Culture Company.

Shop for Jobs can be contacted on 0151 233 5465

I was in a Tescos 3-4 years ago, bought a trolleyload of shopping but was told I had to pay for the pack of sarnies at the cafe. As I had no cash and was paying by Switch and had spent about £80 I thought sod you with stupid rules like that I'm having them for nothing. I got to the doors and the alarm went off, shat myself thinking I never knew every single item was alarmed. I put on my 'oh silly me' expression and went to put the sarnies back then went to leave again, setting the alarm off. Really freaked out by now I walked as quick as I could to the car, threw the bags in and drove off. Got home and found out that the checkout assistant hadnt taken the tag off some camera films. I felt a right idiot, as well as hungry Apart from that I've never tried to nick anything, except sweets from the pick and mix and naughty mags from the newsagents when i was about 15.

5,000 jobs waiting to be filled
Feb 19 2008
by Neil Hodgson, Liverpool Echo

A DRIVE to fill 5,000 vacancies at the city’s £1bn Liverpool One retail scheme starts today.

Job seekers can walk in to a one-stop job shop and register for vacancies in leisure, tourism and retail.

Shop for Jobs within the Lord Street offices of Liverpool One developer Grosvenor, will register anyone wishing to be considered for a job at the new development, which opens this May.

People registering with Shop for Jobs will be contacted each time a job is created over the next few months.

Council leader Warren Bradley, who is helping to launch the initiative, said: “There are going to be thousands of jobs created in the city centre, and it is our duty to ensure that local people are in the best position to take advantage of them.”

Is that because the wages on offer suit an Eastern European though?

Jobseekers allowance is in itself what it says it is. The Welfare state was set up in part to help those in between jobs, now renamed to leave you in no doubt that you should be jobseeking whilst claiming it, not as a life choice.

The can't be arsed attitudes of some needs turning on its head to 'we can't be arsed giving you handouts'.

I've been up there a number of times, no bother - it's quite safe.

I've been to the top of York minster once or twice too. if I remember rightly, there is a lot more climbing to do at York. I think the lift in our Anglican takes you nearer to the top with less steps to tackle. 68 Bus
I thought "duh" whats all the fuss
its only riding on a bus
that was just my first mistake
as I got on the 68

The engine moaned, the driver sighed
half the passengers they cried
as off we set from Eggy vale
we must hang on, we must not fail

We headed into Sevie park
and hoped we`d get out before dark
many hours spent in pain
and we had only made it to Rose Lane

From Allerton to Wavertree
the sweat was pouring off of me
then I could not feel my bum
from the knees up it all went numb

Picton clock said ten past four
Edge lane drive add twenty more
as the traffic moved us on
oh Lord please no! im in Old Swan

Like a snail we moved so slow
I felt my beard begin to grow
t`was wonder there was not a fight
at every bloomin traffic light

Green lane, the market at Tuebrook
by Lower Breck I`d read me book
people started gettin fiery
as we crossed the lights and into Priory

This bus had broken many rules
but then it let on all the schools
yer ming! yer biff! yer wot der lad!
for 7 stops was all I had

By Goodison i was feeling blue
who I was, i never knew
I needed food, I needed water
I was the lamb sent to the slaughter

on County road by kentucky chicken
people saw me window wavin
help! help! I tried to say
as we moved slowly on our way

County really is so long
so long and long and long and long
a little hope to ease the pain
we`ve made it nearly to Rice Lane

I heard screams at the next stop
as many soldiers clambered off
those guys so brave, that is for sure
but even they could take no more

On southport road I went all welly
my head it span and felt like jelly
"catch him" i heard someone shout
then hit the floor as i passed out

Coming round on the bus floor
I felt the breeze, an open door
a woman saying," move will yer man"
"I need that room for me pram"

Up I got, then back in chair
amid the haggard everywhere
then I saw the promised land
the beauty of the Bootle Strand

the bus pulled in, it was all done
the journey over, we had won
I praised the Lord for sparing me
jibbered giggles, fits of glee

Although our legs we could not feel
we felt the bond of our ordeal
the 68 bus has got a curse
but the 62 is even worse

If so the answer is nowhere, unless you share with a lot of people.

I once actually had a flat in liverpool that only cost me £1.50 can you believe.

Yes, a bloody nail punctured my front tyre and I had to wheel the pesky thing to Cundles on pembroke place.

used to take the 89 from speke to st helens and back when we were kids, you could use a zone ticket and it was probably the longest bus ride i've been on barr the magic bus to spain a couple of times, it was a bus ride were you needed to take butties and a bottle of water, maybe you could class the back seat as accomodation as you could be on it for days if not weeks

it means 47 thousand. be realistic, unless you are sharing with friends/students you'll be lucky to find anywhere under 50 quid a week. even lodgers have to fork out more than that.
