View Full Version : New Website
I have started a new website today, it's a first attempt! I would like some feedback from Yo members
I would appreciate feedback if anyone is getting the music playing in the galleries, I am not getting it from the web but it works OK when I try it out first.
The site is - http://www.evertonthevillageonthehill.co.uk/
If anyone wants to contact me by email it is - evertonvillage@gmail.com
Thanks folks!

Hi Samp, looks professional. :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
On Gallery 1
Can't hear the music and I think you could slow the pics turning a bit, they flash over before you can read some of the info
You have it set to 1 sec, wheareas Gallery 2 is 5 sec.
Maybe a comment on each pic location as they turn too.
One of your links:
http://www.johngary.com/#!
takes you to WIX login site !
Well you asked :PDT_Xtremez_42:
Mart
Thanks Mart. Can you hear any music at all? I will slow the pics down as you say, the captions I will have to figure out.
I know about the John Gary site and will try and get it sorted. (I can see some of the girls looking at this site, He is a good singer!)
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Good one,Samp.
You need a link back to your home page below the galleries after playing them.

Have you got the ordanence map for the everton/kirkdale? I got a section of it from the LRO and it was 1928 one.
Think Ged has a copy of it?

Well done you Samp, but I cannot hear any music either, but I can tell from the graphic that the music is playing. You are off to a fine start. :)

Thanks Georgie. If you just click on the home page it will take you back. I might put a link back to the gallery page though.
The map page is from 1850 to show Everton as it was. When I get up to date I will insert later map.
Cheers.

Thats what I am getting, it works OK when I test it out. Something is not linking up right, I will get it right in the end. The music makes all the difference to the mood of the site.

There is also an old pic of that Karate Club on Everton Road, this was the home of the Fusiliers regiment, can't remember the battalion? but the photo depicts it as the headquarters..

well done Samp :)
Well done Samp, at last something on Everton. As has been said I can supply you with umpteen LRO pics, perhaps you'd need to split gallery 4 between pre and post war though ;)
I have got the sound working in a fashion. I have embeded the sound into page of each gallery, so it will play straight away when you change the page. If a box pops up stating Mime configuration, just click on yes and the sound will start.
It will give you a taste of what I am after until I sort it out.
Cheers!

Samp,I would give the option to the viewer to turn off the sound as some connections are slow and having sound on a site always plays first before throwing up the rest of the site and its contents.

Hello Samp
I'm impressed. There are things to fix but this is an excellent start on an informative and entertaining site. Well done, Samp. I'll be in contact by email as suggested.

Samp,
Not too keen on the home page, the wonky photos doesn't appeal to me and on the gallery pages I reckon the navigation bar would be better below the images. I'm sure people will disagree with me
Not a bad site at all though :o)
Thanks for the comments Smurf!
It is my first attempt and I have already made some changes from suggestions by people. As I add more content so the site my change to suit. Thanks for your suggestions though,.
Cheers.
