View Full Version : If the Beatles hadn't split up
What a great LP could have followed in 1970 put together here by using songs that they released sololy that year. It is possible of course that some of these might never had seen the light of day had they stayed together so it's all conjecture anyway but the likes of Teddy Boy, Jealous Guy (released in 71) All things must pass and others were being worked on during the filming of 'Let it be'. Food for thought anyway. I think a combined 1971 album would have been even better and dare I say it 1973 the best of all.
Based on an offering of 12 songs as per the last album released 'Let it be'.
By John: Mother, Working class hero, Cold Turkey and Instant Karma.
By Paul: Every Night, Junk, Teddy Boy and Maybe i'm amazed.
By George: My sweet lord, What is life and All things must pass.
By Ringo: Beaucoups of blues.

Nice one.
Not a Wings fan at all but so many are that it is just a matter of taste.
I liked George's music and have it all
Ringo's stuff is fun, always was
John.........from strength to strength
It is a matter of taste indeed Roni. That's not actually officially wings as yet as it's only 1970 - Wings were yet to be formed.

Oh sorry, I have not opened them all yet as I am having the day from hell and looking forward to the weekend from hell and trying NOT to cry!!! I will open them all.
I was just meaning AFTER Beatles...................I often wonder what John would be doing now, what wonderful music we have missed, what films, what...............well you get it. I miss his very presence. Too my regret I never ran into him in NY even though we are across the park, a few minutes walk. I have talked to Yoko (about jewellery) three times and Shaun twice but not John...............life eh!

Another phoney, Yoko and the 'chance meeting' of meeting Lennon in some art gallery or something..
She was searching Liverpool looking for Lennon months before this supposed chance meeting took place...
Hardman St amongst other places, outside the bombed out church..
asking people how she could find John Lennon..she was told he lived in London...
the art gallery 'chance meeting' took place not long after..
Just a little something I thought you Beatles people might like to know...!!

You saying Yoko's a Stalker Gerard :noid:
You may be right though, she comes across as a opportunist of the highest breed. It was alleged she was cheating on him around the time he was shot.

Gerard, if one of those people is me, nothing there I did not know. It is pretty widely known she almost camped out in his garden in London. John and Cynthia used to laugh about her. Been in many books. John told it differently though so...........
The affair at the time John was shot..... can't prove it. I did not like him. He said something once that really upset me. Yoko did not comment so I don't know how she felt. She was with him until fairly recently. Some say they were married, I don't believe it, she would never give up the name Lennon.

Thank you. Not really a big deal. Just workmen been in and out trying to fix the drain in bathroom all week . Coming in the morning to pull down a wall to get to pipes. I have had to move everything from the bathroom and the big bathroom closet in there that is packed to the gills, I use it as storage plus all my towels, ironing board, clothes, ALL in the living room at the moment. Haven't finished yet, still got the little chest of drawers to drag in. and I am hot and tired and dirty!!
It is a holiday weekend so nobody will come to seal the wall up for a while, I am terrified roaches with come in. I would have made the appointment for Tuesday but my super wont give me plumbers number and she made the appointment and told me to have everything ready. It is a lot. Also if he has the big machine with him, he would not wheel it through my narrow kitchen and wheeled it through my bedroom and living room, told me to 'get used to it'. Now he can't get it in the living room as there are boxes everywhere. so, I will offer to wheel it through the kitchen if he has that but I am dreading this entire thing. I wish someone else was here as it would be less intimidating, I know he is going to make me move stuff again (to where?) so he can wheel through bedroom and living room.

Roni I know how you feel ! I hate upheaval like that. When we were doing our bedroom recently all the stuff from that room was stuffed into another bedroom and also along the landing - for weeks! Couldn't move around the stuff stacked up - boxes, clothes, books, bedding, etc, etc, it's amazing how much stuff you have ! .. and I'm very strict about not hoarding ! This is all stuff you need.
Couldn't get around the boxes and stuff to clean up properly, fed up of squeezing past and trying to find stuff - I hated it, but it had to be done and the results are definitely worth it.
It's worse Roni if you have no one to help you shift stuff about. You must be worn out !
Don't worry, it will all be over eventually and back to normality.

ps, the story about Yoko camping out by John's house doesn't surprise me. I am on Cyn's side - she should have chased her to hell !!
And so we move to 1971 with each Beatle progressing to a better class of song imho.
By John: Power to the people, Imagine, Jealous Guy, Gimme some truth and How do you sleep
By Paul: Another day, Back seat of my car, Too many people, Smile away and Monkberry moon delight
By George: Bangla Desh
By Ringo: It don't come easy
John's How do you sleep was a scathing attack on Paul, but that don't matter as George's Only a Northern Song on the Yellow Submarine album was a scathing attack on their music publishing company and his disdain at not getting a look in with his songs on singles and albums.

Hiya Roni.. it was meant for all Beatles fans Ron.. its been in many books ?..about Yoko Ono wandering Hardman St looking for John Lennon..which books Roni ?...and do them books name the person Yoko approached on Hardman St..? do they mention his name and relationship to one of The Beatles..?
and Cynthia used to laugh about her. Been in many books. John told it differently though so....
I have Beatles books Roni...I could quote them all day, I dont...I dont visit Beatles chatrooms either...never visited a single one of them with my rare photographs inside Lennons art college...inside the legendary bathroom Lennon and the Quarry Men practised in at 1 Blomfield Rd.. inside and around Lennons schools etc etc...
I stay well away from these places Roni as they are full of nutcases who know nothing about The Beatles apart from what is in books....most of which is made up by authors to fill their books.
I get my Beatles knowledge and info on the streets of Liverpool by walking the streets for years and years...or 1st hand Ron from the people that were closest to them..not from some lunatic Beatles nutter that stalks them chatrooms full of loonie tunes chatting shi.t about what May Pang said years ago..

The mess is only part of it. It is the plumber telling me he will go through the living room and bedroom and I can get used to it !! The kitchen IS narrow but he can fit it through or I will. I have moved everything. I am pooped. These times are the only times I regret living alone. If there was someone else here that workman would not be like that and his assistant is the same
Aye - what a repertoire of classics that any artist would love to be able to pick from. I've heard 4 of these on the radio just this week meaning more money into their coffers 40 years after they wrote them. They've certain stood the test of time a lot of these.

I get my info from being there. I was at the Cavern for most of their performances if not all. I hear a lot of garbage even from Liverpool people who exaggerate what happened different nights I guess to 'have a story' Some of the things I read or see in movies is a load of rubbish. Did I know about the alleged affair, sure, as I say, I met him (with Yoko). Not interested in her. Don't care what happened. I do care about the changing of history when people give wrong accounts of things that happened that I was there for and know it was not true. It is becoming folk -lore and moving away from the truth. I got lots of stories from Ringo's mum, never tell them. Got stories from Pete Best's brother Rory, (was chatting to him at the Cavern the night Ringo took over, what rubbish I read about that night. I was standing right there so I KNOW what happened) never tell them
I do not go in Beatles chat rooms, did not even know about them. The Beatles were a VERY long time ago. Time marches on, stories become polluted. It hardly matters now does it. Two of them are dead and the other two have good lives. That time has come and gone. They came, they conquered and they left..................
I am only defending Richie because I knew him and he is a nice, shy, pleasant guy with a great sense of humour. Not really interested in re-hashing the Beatles. Please don't take offence as none is intended. I was there, it was great, like my youth, it is over:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Was not planning to come back so soon but on TV as we speak someone famous was just asked for favorite song of all time and we heard Paul singing 'Long and Winding Road':PDT11
Ged, Paul and John did their fighting in a NY paper, think it was Village Voice , I will have a think. It got really nasty with John screaming to Paul that he did not believe the pleas from Linda were from her but rather from him and said he was a coward hiding behind women's skirts and he should shove his **** in his mouth, it got really really nasty and it broke my heart to read it every week. I was amazed it would be in a newspaper..Very sad but they did make up years later when John was living in California with Mae so it ended well.

I get my info from being there.
So do I Ron, well sort of like...
My sister brought me the Beatles homecoming parade in 1964 when I was 7..
remember it like yesterday, the packed streets outside Lewis's near The Adelphi watching their bus go past...
I went The Cavern, once..(that I remember..)..probably went more than once...
before it was demolished, I remember standing in awe in front of the stage
and remember all the little wooden chairs in front of the stage...
that'l do me Roni, my inspiration for doing what I do relating to The Beatles..
I never saw The Beatles Roni on there.. but I'm more than happy with the memories I have..
....was at the Cavern for most of their performances if not all....
Thats a lot of performances Roni..
and maybe saw them all..?
probably the only person to make that claim eh ?
a bit of a record I'd say.. nice one.
Please don't take offence as none is intended. I was there, it was great, like my youth, it is over....
You have not offended me Roni, not in the slightest..
quite the opposite actually..
thanks to you I've opened up a little to mention a few things I do relating taking
photos of places relating to them around Liverpool..etc..
I dont normally do that Ron, I tend to keep quiet about what I know about The Beatles...
A bit like those I know that really know what happened.. they say nothing..
its those that know the least that tend to do all the spouting of things they pick up elswehere..
Cheers Roni... :PDT_Aliboronz_11:

Cyn didn't because she and John laughed at Yoko, she did not feel threatened.
It's a pity that Cynthia did laugh and not realise that Yoko was a serious threat to her marriage. I think it took Cynthia a long time to get over John. Yoko pursued him and I can imagine how pushy she must have been - also to ensconce herself with no shame in their home ! When Cynthia found them together in the kitchen Yoko didn't turn a hair - she was too forward and what we in Liverpool call 'hardfaced !' :) It's a pity Cynthia didn't fight for her man and send her packing. I felt for Cynthia, she must have been gutted.
Yoko was very unpopular for a long time.
But as I was saying in another thread, we mustn't hold grudges, all water under the bridge and all that - and as you say the Beatle era was all a long time ago. People got used to the idea of Yoko and came around to accepting her - similarly how the public came to accept the much maligned Camilla with Prince Charles! people in general do forgive in the end, eventually coming around to situations.
I know Roni. Macca and Elton John were the only pop artists in the top 100 of the times British rich list. I had to let some poor soul down who was citing Jay Z and Oasis as richer than the Beatles who earned more and sold more records when their anthology came out (over 25 years after they'd split) than Oasis did the same year when at the top of their success.

I never saw them play. Im way too young.
I met Paul once. I liked Wings a lot. George was may fav and one of my heroes in life, a real talent and such a nice guy. Ringo is boring to me. John was ok but a bit full of himself at times. Not sure I can like a guy who beat his wife.
One thing is for sure. As a group they were pretty good.
Still dont touch The Who for me though. I like good live bands and The Who were brilliant live.

Not everyone accepts her!!!! She did not think John would be interested in Yoko as he used to refer to her with a very derogatory word!! It came out of the blue. I met her once at the Cavern, will never tell the story though as it would be blown out of all proportion
Linda McCartney was the same. She met Paul and pursued him like a stalker. She went back to America and called him every day, came back and told the women in his apartment to leave. He thought that was cool. She moved into his apartment and he admired her 'go get him' attitude. People hated her too but did come round to her (and some never did) Also well documented
I don't believe it is our place to forgive Lindy. We are talking about very intelligent adults. They decide how to live their lives as we decide how to live our. Nobody business and certainly not up to us. We do not know what is going on behind those doors. We discuss it all but in the end it is their own business.
John once said that we call him a genius, we say he is our hero but we think he can't choose his own wife, we think we know better. Made me think!!

 Yes, I take John's point.
It is their business as you say, and we do not know what goes on behind closed doors.
I just felt that Cynthia must have had a lot of heartache and is often overlooked.
As for forgiving - I was thinking more from a fan's point of view rather than of a moral judgement. Fans who may have initially hated Yoko and blamed her for driving a wedge between the Beatles, did eventually come around to accepting her and forgive and forget. :) especially now all these years later and much older and wiser ! :)

Gotcha.
I don't like to tell my stories as I consider them personal and stories get added on to as they are passed along, lol I will say I do not care for Yoko but have to admit she was very nice to me. In fact, once when she was looking for a gold case I pulled one out and the owner of the store said, 'NO, I will show her' and she immediately said, I like her choice thank you, I will see that and smiled at me.
Last time I spoke to her was within a year of John's death, she was with her partner Sam and I did not care for what he said so I busied myself talking to Sean and left the owner to show them the jewellery.
I saw her recently, she was a producer in a documentary about John. Sitting quite near me at the premier. I hated the documentary. Such a slanted view. Mae Pang was there, the documentary brushed over her like she never mattered. She did. I feel guilty as I think she was wrong for him (Yoko that is) but as he said.................................he knows what he wants. Pity drugs was one of the things he wanted but nobody is perfect!!!!!! Not my call. I took a photo of Mae Pang. Want to see it?
Well. I don't know, but she was a woman scorned at the end of the day.
She certainly was and was an awful way to be treated. He pours scorn more on her ability to recall things more pertanent to the Beatles events.

Well. I don't know, but she was a woman scorned at the end of the day.
I have to take a deep breath as we are talking about my hero.....................John treated her very, very badly and said later he hated himself for what he did and admitted he hit her. He did not always treat Yoko well either and was not faithful but if you take someone's husband quite deliberately and cruelly how much sympathy must we have? Well?
I liked Cyn very much and I cried when it all went south for her. He was getting into drugs, Cyn hated drugs..........................this was a big part of it. He went off with Yoko who apparently liked what he liked!
It always comes down to sex and drugs!:PDT_Xtremez_12:
