Hello,
In 1939, my mother and her family moved to Paddington Gardens. She was just 5 mos. of age and lived there until the age of 19 when she married an American in the United States Air Force.
Are any of you (or perhaps your parents/grandparents) from the same area? I’m looking for photos from the 1940’s to 1950’s from the Mason Street/Paddington Gardens area. I’m also looking to connect with anyone who may have been raised there as well.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you so much,
Julie

Hi Julie,
If you can send me an e-mail via my profile, I'll send you anything you want around that area. I've got maps/pictures of Mason Street/Highgate Street/Paddy Gardens - it's the area of the Tunnels and I'm writing a book on them and have lots of history going back all the way to the 1800's.

Brother Cad.
Do you have any photos of the Paddington Palace Music Hall, later called the Coliseum Cinema?
It was on the corner of Paddington and Upper Mason Street.

Ooh I wish I did! I know exactly where it was placed and the land seems very small for its footprint, but I've never come across a picture yet. If I do, I'll send you a copy.

Dear Julie
My grandparents lived in Paddington, I believe number 6 or 8, where they had a grocery store. That is, in the 1930's and 1940's. I used to stay there often, I was 5 years old when the war broke- since my father was in the army then, our mother used to take us to stay with our grandparents on many nights.
One of those nights, our mother returned home, at the top of Brownlow Hill, to discover the neighbours digging into the rubble of our house, which had had a direct hit from a German bomb.
The only photos I have of that time is of our father and mother and us two young ones.
If you get any photos of that area, I would love to receive copies.
Regards

New on the site, But I would like to access a photograph on-line of Paddington Edgehill. Sorry if I'm intruding on someone else's site here, but don't know how to ask any other way! Please forgive my ignorance! My username is Anniefield. Thanks for any advice.
