I assume this is the best place for this!

Where's a good place to go blackberry picking in Mersyside - somewhere accessable by the excellent Merseyrail would be useful.

I haven't been in ages and I've got lots of apples to use up:p

Actually - just realised the blackberry season is probably over already  but still where can I go next year??

I used to pick them along the railways (*not recomended) for my nan who used to make them into pie.

Other than that then Liverpool's parks might have em, Sefton, Calderstones etc...

I know also along The Wirral Way, there are bushes-a-plenty, its a 12 mile long walk which I used to do often as a kid.

Not too sure wetehr u would find any in town :p

There's plenty in Crocky Park right now, the West Derby village end, backing on to Meadow Lane. :)

I promise I'll stay away then, eh? :) But seriously, if you're there during the daylight hours Croxteth Park is quite busy with people exercising Fido, but of an evening the kids can be a little(?) intimidating. However, after all the rain we've had recently, the park will probably look more like a paddy field.

ps,

they are selling Blackberries in our local fruit shop for £1 (for approx 10 Berries) !!

Great pics, Kev. I've lived close by for over twenty-odd years and never been inside... sad eh? Did you know you can tour the farm and the walled garden, but you'd have to check the times, I think the garden is only open in the summertime (as you would expect). Don't suppose you met the ghost then? :) :)

I went on a tour of the farm and walled gardens when my son was in the infants school.

have been in the house once or twice too.

I've got some video footage of the hall when we had deep snow and it looks lovely.

Hey gang, I've just got back from walking the dogs in Crocky Park. Don't go blackberry picking unless you've got a pair of waders, the field is under water but the seagulls are having a fine time. :)
