I met recently a friend from Switzerland who is in Liverpool for less than a month. She has to do a research about the Merseybeat and she would appreciate any help. So if ever you know books or people who know about the subject please let me know.

Hi Genevieve
The Beatles Story (http://www.beatlesstory.com/) would probably be a good place to start if she has not been there. Your friend can though talk to members of the old Merseybeat groups as well. Pete Best, the original drummer of the Beatles, is still around. He or his brother Rory might be willing to talk to her -- Pete owns the Casbah Club in West Derby where a number of the Merseybeat groups played. Also there are members of the Quarrymen, the Georgians, and Faron and Flamingoes, among other groups who it might be worthwhile to interview. I can put her in touch with members of the Georgians who if, they can't meet with her, might be able to suggest older musicians who could if you care to email me through my profile.
The late Bob Wooler was the disc jockey at the Cavern when the Beatles played there. We have a thread on him in the Famous Scousers area. It might give her some ideas to pursue:

I wish your friend luck with her project. It sounds most interesting!

:016: Alexei Sayle was born just up the road from you in Anfield. He's a North End boy. As for 'wooled up' accents, again it's the north that has it! Think of how many north Liverpudlians pronounce the words book and cook - Lancashire right on our doorstep ;)

Hi Chris,
I've always known Pete Best's brother by the name Roag. Have I misheard him after all these years? This is a genuine question, no wind up. I don't know how his name is spelled but it sounds like Rogue. Anyway, the two brothers are top class gentlemen.
Best wishes,
Chas

I was again trying to find any mention of the popular teacher Brian King and came across this...
Brian O'Hara: Age 58
Fourmost
(b. Liverpool, Mar. 12, 1942, d. June 27,1999)
Brian O'Hara, former singer and guitarist with the Fourmost, a 1960s Liverpool group that shared a manager with the Beatles and had hits with songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, was found hanging at his home...He was 58. Liverpool police found O'Hara in the Wavertree area of the northern English port city. The group had half a dozen hit singles from 1963-65, including ``Hello Little Girl'' and ``I'm In Love'' by Lennon and McCartney.
