I'm trying to find out more about the former Bradford Hotel in Tithebarn Street. It was gutted by fire a few years ago and is now occupied by MerseyTravel. But it was a hotel for many years and I can't find anything about it on the net. Has anyone any idea when it opened? Was it a luxury hotel? Any info gratefully received!

Was it a luxury hotel? :PDT_Aliboronz_24: :PDT10 :PDT_Piratz_26:
The quick answer is 'No'.
I'd better let Ged or Gerard answer that!

Take it it was pretty seedy? Just wondered if it was luxurious in Victorian times, that's if it was around then. It must have seen better days - I've seen where they used to tie up the horses as they unloaded the carriages. Anyone know when it opened and who used to use it?
Ta!

My niece had her wedding reception there in 1989, it was in the basement area. It had a nice banquet area and a good bar, the staff were excellent.
It was part of the group that owned the Feathers and the Alicia. They weren't top class but they had a good reputation as far as I know.

I had my wedding reception in the Bradford julie in 1977 and I thought it was a great hotel.
I wouldn't say it was as good as the Adelphi in them days but it was one of the better hotels in Liverpool back then.
It most definately was not seedy..
Now lets not get into the "Feathers" story eh...eh..

I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to imply it was seedy.
It was just the luxury hotel question that amused me.
I remember the bar was open to the public in the 1980s.
Its days were numbered when Exchange Station closed and there was too much competition from established pubs.

Thanks for that Phil.
And to those who had functions there - sorry for implying it was seedy - I misunderstood what Phil was saying.

Thanks Julie.
Not everybody gives thanks when somebody has tried to answer a query.
(I'm still annoyed by another thread!)

Here's some info about Liverpool City Caterers, who had the Bradford in 1950, which is the date of this advert.
